New pinned because I deleted the old one... again:
I like games, but I'm extremely pessimistic about new games. Make of that whatever you will.
Ah, a dictatorship apologist. That explains a lot

Alright so the USSR failed because of mismanagement from the Stalin era, but by the time it collapsed most of those issues had been erased, we see now with China and Cuba that communism can work
But MW is propaganda, it wouldn't want that
I think trying to restore a failed government isn't really a good thing

And what is it these ultranationalists trying to do again? What's their endgame, is it the destruction of the world or is it the reconstruction of a certain ideology the US is known for hating to the point of bombing and starving countries for having?
Spec Ops The Line is about how using violent media as escapism is bad and has disturbing implications. MW 1 is about how war is hell and that being the main character guarantees nothing.
By this logic, Halo Reach is pro-war

CoD 4 creates scenarios vaguely resembling what was on the news at the time, and it justifies waging war against those things. The Ultranationalist Russians are collaborating with scary Mid-East country to nuke the West. It also makes it fun to shoot at them the whole time
This would work if you weren't talking about MW 1

Your point was that the intense gameplay and overall experience couldn't be construed as cool, despite obvious attempts by the developers to have the game play like an action movie (and even nodding directly towards those influences).
That last part isn't actually true, at least not for Modern Warfare
Replying to @Dan4Neo
I don't think you get what spec ops is about if you think it's just an anti war game I'll be real
also the anti war interpretation of COD is too charitable for a franchise partially funded by the US army.
I don't see how that invalidates the messaging, but whatever
Quick question: Which country do the vast majority of the trilogy's playable characters come from?
Replying to @Dan4Neo
We didn't play the same fucking game the OG mw games are blatantly propaganda the whole fucking time, the fact the villains are Russian says alone that this shit isn't anti war, it's meant to make you feel like a badass soldier with vague "war is bad" stuff
Yeah, that's not what Modern Warfare did. At all.
Replying to @Dan4Neo
Its only anti-war in the sense of "Oh look what they are making our poor troops do" bs. The only time it gets close is a nuke scene. Everything else is just them blindly accepting DOD's exceptionalist version of the world. SO: The Line discards any notion of that self-pity.
Okay, Thel, nice alt account, but it's obvious what you're doing
The story critiques are valid, but most of them come off as CinemaSins-level nitpicking
Yeah, sure, but then the plot would've gone on for too long. Probably for the best they didn't do that

Everyone in Halo 3 was incompetent. Gravemind only almost won instead of fukky win because he was stupid. He captured High Charity and all its ships at the end of H2 and didn't spread spores through the galaxy.
