Today we're announcing our $100m seed round to change how humanity computes 🚀
AI must be far cheaper, faster and more performant than it is today. Co-evolving heterogeneous compute and intelligence is how we do it.
With our round, today we are announcing global partnerships, new technical advances, and the launch of Tailored Inference to optimise tasks, models and hardware simultaneously.
A future of heterogeneous intelligence, built on principles we see in nature, is coming fast. And we're just getting started!
Today we announce our $100M seed round to redefine how humanity computes in AI's next chapter.
The future of compute and AI is heterogeneous. Callosum is building it:

1/7 I have two simple tests for British AI, driven by our values. Is it safe? And is it ours to shape? 🇬🇧
Today, Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP is announcing a major, ambitious package of investment to strengthen Britain's defences against emerging threats, back British innovation, and build our technological independence.
heterogeneous (bio)compute
are you ready to grow some brains? 🧠
Project A & @outlierlabshq are hosting a biocomputing hackathon with @CallosumAI and Frontier Computing (YC S26) @frontiergpu @MichaelDmrks!
come program living brain cells to control robots, fly drones, and build something crazy.
50 spots only.

Heterogeneity all the way down
AI inference is shifting from single GPU clusters to Heterogeneous Disaggregated Inference. Prefill (compute-bound) and Decode (memory-bandwidth-bound) have completely opposite hardware needs. Instead of forcing H100s/B200s to do both (poorly), the industry is splitting the pipeline across specialized chips.
this guy is pretty smart…
Today’s guest is @achterbrain , co-founder and CTO of @CallosumAI .
Jascha’s bet is that the future of compute is heterogeneous: different chips working together on different parts of a problem.
Beyond the multichip future, we discuss:
- What neuroscience taught Jascha about designing computing systems
- How chipmakers discover what their hardware is best at
- Where thermodynamic, biological, and quantum computing could fit
- Hiring people who welcome having their ideas challenged
- Building an AI infrastructure company in London

The real end goal of scaling heterogeneous compute is to make new discoveries and uncover new knowledge that change the world
excited to back @sotalikesfuture with @inherent_labs @fractile_ai & @ARIA_research!
SoTA Scientific Parallelism Hackathon | 21st-22nd November | London
Which scientific questions could we investigate better if computation were faster or could run at a greater scale?
The Society for Technological Advancement (@sotalikesfuture), supported by Callosum (@CallosumAI), Inherent Labs (@inherent_labs), the Advanced Research + Invention Agency (@ARIA_research) and Fractile (@fractile_ai), is holding a hackathon to tackle open scientific questions that could benefit from faster computation or experiments at a greater scale.
Contestants will use parallel computing on challenges across biology, chemistry, physics, materials science, astronomy, and Earth sciences – pushing GPUs to their limits and rethinking architectures for this new paradigm.
Great step in the right direction for UK, we need to 100x our ambition levels
NON COMPETES BANNED
Today, the PM has announced that his Government will legislate to functionally ban non-compete agreements for startups and scaleups in the UK or as he called it - the Bosman ruling for ruling for the innovation sector' 😂
At the @StartupCltn been working on this for months and we think it’s a huge potential unlock for our tech ecosystem.
Here’s what you need to know…
- Measures to functionally ban non-competes for startups and scaleups in the UK are going to be set out.
- There will also be consultation on a wider set of restrictive practices including gardening leave.
- More detail on these plans at the budget in a few weeks (Wednesday 28th October) including a timetable for consultation with a view to legislation in the coming months.
We think this is a huge move and so do lots of friends including so many of the great founders that signed the letter with Inherent just the other week.
Why? Because talent matters and mobile talent means startups can build. The Valley was built on free-flowing talent. In the UK, we’re now seeing our own versions of this story with companies being built from alumni of both homegrown firms like Revolut and beyond. But we need that to move faster. Hiring and building faster means British startups and scaleups can grow faster. Barriers to that slow our ecosystem down.
We won’t pretend it will be perfect, and people (including some of our friends but also lots of fairly vested interests too) will have a right to disagree. But we think that startups will thrive and win in a faster paced Britain.
So we are delighted with the progress today - as part of a strong speech by the PM outlining his ambition for building the world’s leading innovation nation including more on tax, growing companies outside London and more. But this is the start, not the end of the process. The announcement launches a consultation. It doesn't mean the issue is settled. How far reform goes, and what it looks like on the ground, is still to be decided.
The Prime Minister today has done something that can materially impact the trajectory of the UK tech ecosystem and with it our economy - but only if we make sure it’s delivered. So, the real work starts now.
With some UK’s frontier technology startups, @achterbrain and I have signed this letter calling on gov to liberate current labour mobility practices, to help our best science and tech companies scale.
To paint a picture for the urgency of this… current restrictive practices affected us this very morning.
thank you @kallyaleksiev and the great @inherent_labs team for spearheading!
1/ Today we’re launching an open letter calling on the government to end unfair restrictions that stop Britain’s best switching jobs or starting companies.
UK AI companies that have raised $5bn agree: our best should be free to start and scale. 🧵

If I were taking my first steps into inference engineering right now, I’d do this:
Deploy Kubernetes in Docker
Create a vLLM manifest
Pull a model
Serve it through a gateway
Send some real requests
Measure TTFT + tokens/sec
Add concurrency and watch batching happen
Watch GPU memory + KV cache under load
Change one thing at a time and see what happens
You’ll learn a surprising amount from that small loop.
“If all AI is built on one platform, we'll only have a certain envelope of future outcomes. Whereas if the future of AI is built on a broad population of platforms by a broad population of users and organizations and nations, we're much more likely to experience the benefit of this technology rapidly and avoid the risks.”
Andy Hock and @DanAkarca of @CallosumAI on the vision behind the new Cerebras-Callosum partnership.
“We're in the early stages now of this Cambrian explosion. What are the boundary cases where we want certain tasks on certain models on certain silicon? We’re making that programmable. This is where all the frontier performance is going to come from.”
Proud to launch our new partnership between @CallosumAI and @cerebras. Thanks to Andy for a great conversation!

The UK is on its way to become the AI / Chip / Hardware capital of Europe
A UK chip company is raising $600m at a $6.5bn valuation after signing a $250m deal with Anthropic.
The company raised $220m just a few months ago and now it's raising again.
The UK is becoming a new hub for chips and hardward.
LETS GO
