Acton Line with @DanHugger is always worth a listen, especially when @erikwmatson is the guest.
How did Christian moral thought influence economic policies and structures throughout history? @erikwmatson, Senior Fellow @CatholicUniv, sits down with @DanHugger on the Acton Line podcast to discuss his new book "A History of Christian Political Economy: From the Patristics to the Present," coauthored with @JordanBallor.

Turns out Polymarket probably not the financial industry’s largest operational loss today. I (regretfully) speculate this is not primarily because crypto is uniquely incompetent at software and simply because they’re the lowest hanging fruit to successfully monetize.
BREAKING: World's largest crypto exchange Binance hacked with over $5.6 billion stolen: • $1.45 billion $BTC • $875 million $ETH • $234 million $TRX • $50 million $XAUT • $1.57 billion $USDT • $823 million $USDC • $75 million $WBETH • $88.5 million $RLUSD + $447.5 million additional cryptocurrencies This is the largest hack in crypto history.

In a few days, I'll be leaving the country for the first time since 2014 and flying to Taiwan. Why? Three reasons: 1) I never got to see free Hong Kong; 2) China may invade as early as next year; 3) Taiwan is neat. That and more at the following:

It seems increasingly common for candidates who lose elections to claim the results were illegitimate, across parties and countries. Why has this become more common? And does it actually help the candidate or their party win future elections?

Acton scholars were out and about at the @ciceroniansociety conference last week. 👀 @DrJohnPinheiro and @drantbradley joined Dr. Morgan Whitmer to discuss the vocation of higher education and how we should rethink the college experience.

*The returns on attention rise, and with them the incentive to pay attention.* The early capitalist worker voluntarily increased annual working days from 250 to 300 because a new universe of desirable goods had become accessible. The AI-enabled thinker may similarly increase the amount of voluntary cognitive effort they expend because a new universe of intellectual consumption has become accessible. contraptions.venkateshrao.co…
