I was expecting Israel to be a little America—mostly English-speaking, a land full of convenience.
What I found was distinctly Middle Eastern—the people are brash, speak with their hands, and often don't know a lick of English. There are stray cats everywhere, mopeds, and graffiti. The street signs are in Hebrew, English, and Arabic. There is a mosque on prime beachfront property in Tel Aviv.
There is every kind of citizen imaginable. I saw Ethiopian Jews serving in the IDF. While touring an ancient Jewish site, I ran into a group of Arab schoolchildren also there to learn. I met a Mizrahi cab driver whose parents fled Morocco in the 50s.
Douglas Murray famously made Americans irate when he flamed Dave Smith on an episode of Joe Rogan for having never traveled to Israel—but he’s right. Visiting Israel shows you just how wrong the west is about the Jewish state.
Just go there.

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people.
Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent!
But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest.
You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful.
Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway.
This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

The final campaign ad from Israel’s Yashar! party, led by former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, who is seeking to replace Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister.

This ad is vile. One thing that's so despicable about far-left hatred of Israel is how quickly they just glide past the fact that Israel was subject to horrific terrorist violence. One does not have to agree with all Israeli policies (I certainly don't) to know that this is a grotesque caricature.
New low for normalized Jew-hate in the American Democratic Party. Very sad:
Painting your political opponents as puppets of Jews, as this El-Sayed ad does, and as crazed baby-killers and money-grubbing villains who are the root cause of every bad thing not just in the world, but in your life—from wars to the price of eggs to the reason you can’t have free healthcare—is not just low-grade Jew-hate. It’s pure Third Reich stuff, translated directly from the original German.
Do you remember when Jewish Democrats in Michigan explained that they would vote for El-Sayed despite his open disdain for Jews, since there are many other important issues they need him to fight for? That anything was worth it to “defeat MAGA”?
Well, here’s El-Sayed’s answer to them: Don’t worry, all those issues we agree on, like healthcare, inflation, and climate change, I’m going to make them about Jews too! I will tell the public that the Jews are the reason they can’t have those things.

As Democrats, we are right to speak out when Republicans spread hateful rhetoric. We have the same responsibility when it comes from our own side.
Hasan Piker’s record of hateful rhetoric is clear. Senator Omar Fateh and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar should not lend him their platform.

As Democrats, we constantly criticize the far-right for their incendiary and discriminatory politics, but we need to hold ourselves to the same standard. Hasan Piker’s rhetoric is polarizing and dangerous, and embracing him as a party is a mistake. I am disappointed that Minnesota DFLers are hosting an event with him here.
Oh, is it hard for Macklemore, being “canceled” and all for being pro-Palestinian (by the way, he also is an antisemite, as any honest person who has seen his Jewish “costume” from a few years back would have to admit)?
Yeah, try being a pro-Israel musician these days. Trust me
In a world of Macklemores and Mark Ruffalos, be a @Pink or a @BoyGeorge

On the subject of @macklemore it's important to note that slogans such as 'Free Palestine' offer the appearance of moral courage without requiring much political knowledge. @edsheeran clearly has no spine and as for @Palomafaith and her stupid virtuous squealing of delight about Mackle-bore when she is about as political as a soggy tuna sandwich. The whole thing makes me queasy. Good on @Pink for speaking out and hopefully at some point @edsheeran will address this issue.
It was a special screening of exciting & rare @bobdylan live footage from his center in Tulsa at the Main in Mpls. Museum boss Steve Jenkins spoke, homeboy Dan Israel sang & we heard Dylan from forceful voice to quiet croon. Hilite: soundtrack to Autopsy on Operation Abolition

Imagine getting your opinions on what is anti-Semitism and whether anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism (it is, by the way) from such a renowned expert on such issues as @EllenBarkin - who uses the opinion of @MarkRuffalo to "bolster" her reasoning-free argument. Total weak sauce...
Heard a report on the Middle East on @BBCWorld today that was disgustingly biased against Israel - yes, they do some bad things, like all countries. But the BBC always goes out of its way to emphasize the bad things Israel does and de-emphasize the bad things Israel's enemies do
Heard a report today on @NPR about how Israel is keeping some Palestinian comedians and others from coming into Israel b/c it deems them "anti-Israel". Do I like that? No, not really - but I wonder, how many Jewish comedians are allowed into Arab countries? I'm guessing none
