We can reveal today that Hartley-Brewer – its one remaining star host – is to leave Talk as soon as next month, after entering talks with @GBNEWS.
Her exit is a hammer blow for the former home of free speech which has been rocked since the departures of Mike Graham @Iromg over an alleged Facebook post he denies and @mrmarkdolan over money. Jeremy Kyle has agreed to a pay cut to stay for now, while Alex Phillips @ThatAlexWoman is expected to step in for Julia. It is difficult to imaging a more loved journalist with a more loyal following.
She stood up for Brexit when the establishment sneered at the 17.4 million, and on Planet Normal she speaks for the readers the commentariat pretends not to hear.
When Essex Police turned up at her door on Remembrance Sunday over a deleted post, she refused to be cowed. The case was dropped.
Readers didn't stay loyal through every fashionable storm for puzzles and "new revenue streams". They came for writers with nerve, and Allison Pearson is top of that list.

This is one of the most condescending things I’ve ever read.
The logic that Restore takes votes from Reform is the same logic that Reform takes votes from the Conservatives.
You believe Reform are an alternative.
Millions believe Restore are.
See this face? This is the face you’ll be pulling when you realise you just helped hand the country to the far-left for another 5 years.
You’ll be fine, of course. You’ve got your YouTube clicks.
You’ll encourage people to scream into their phones for another five years, maybe longer.
Rupert will be fine, too. The Tories will probably put him in the Lords.
But the country, the British people, will be screwed.
And one day you might reflect on how you were too dumb to do what the Left has always done.
Put the wider mission ahead of personality disputes.
It’s not about Nigel. It’s not about Rupert. It’s about the country. And a lot of so-called patriots right now are handing it to the Left because they can’t see the bigger picture.

I fear for the Telegraph.
The new German owners are taking a wrecking ball to a fine journalistic institution by sacking 100 journalists ( despite saying they would invest) and pushing out the door the only names worth reading, the latest being the brave and super talented Alison Pearson.
All in favour of cutting costs but what is their big idea?
Some old nonsense about more foreign news (nobody will pay for that) and turning the Telegraph into a global behemoth.
That definitely won’t happen.
My advice is to take a tip from the financially successful Times;
Invest heavily in journalism and journalists, disclose information not available elsewhere, keep your good writers fed and watered.
I know there is nobody at the Telegraph, from the Editor downwards not concerned at their future and the future of the title.
These are tough times for the media, not made easier by these owners destroying their own £600million investment and the enjoyment of their readers.
