Silver, gold, natural gas, oil and potash will be the best performing assets of the 2020s.

This is the exact opposite signal to the "We Buy Gold" popups/ads you get at tops.
Shenzhen gold hub sees crowds as spot prices slip below $4,000/oz Gold prices fell over the weekend, and the Shuibei market — a gold jewelry manufacturing and trading hub in the southern metropolis of Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province — saw a surge of visitors. Photos posted by netizens on Chinese social media platforms showed some aisles so crowded that people could barely move. Netizens flooded the platforms with posts like "There are more people here buying gold than you'd find at a vegetable market," while "booming" and "packed with people" became buzzwords.

The hyperscalers have bet big on reactors. Next they'll have to lock up the fuel, and the first one to move gets the last good price.

The First World War did not erupt. Governments built it, financed it, and kept it running long past the point where any rational army would have quit the field. Franz Ferdinand's assassination in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, gave chancelleries and foreign ministries the pretext they needed. The war itself required something more durable than a pretext. It required central banks. Every major belligerent suspended the gold standard within weeks of the opening shots. Britain suspended convertibility in August 1914. Germany, France, and Austria-Hungary followed. This mattered enormously. Under a true gold standard, you cannot fund a four-year industrial slaughter. Governments run out of money and populations refuse further sacrifice. The war ends. Instead, central banks printed currency to buy government bonds, transferring the cost of the war to ordinary wage earners through inflation, a tax nobody voted for and most never identified as a tax. Ludwig von Mises watched this from Vienna and identified the mechanism precisely: inflation allows states to conscript private purchasing power without explicit confiscation. Every loaf of bread that cost more in 1917 than in 1913 represented a transfer from the buyer to the war machine. The death toll reached approximately 20 million people. The fiscal cost exceeded $200 billion in 1914 dollars. Neither number was achievable under honest money. Politicians and generals sustained the catastrophe because central banking made it financially possible to keep going. Remove the printing press and the trenches empty themselves inside three months. Sound money is a hard constraint on state violence. States hate hard constraints.

Assuming he TACOs, has refused to attack for wks=no appetite for conflict & wants an exit. IR deal will be bad, zero leverage diplomatically. He'll up PR game to spin it palatable, or distract w/Cuba. GCC will agree. If so, recovery starts, we still drain in June/July.

Helium is not produced with all natural gas, it is quite rare in commercial quantities. You need specific conditions like an old sedimentary pile for radiogenic decay, carbonate reservoirs and evaporite seals. This rules out most of US natural gas production. Qatar supply is not replaceable.

I wouldn't be surprised if USA also gives Ukraine intel & help to take out Russia's gas & oil infra, plus Russia's shadow fleet. USA could want to be only major producer of gas in the world. Fun fact: Helium is a crucial side product of natural gas extraction process. EUV lithography machines are used to make the most advanced semiconductors in the world and they need helium to cool down the laser, which is etching the chips. USA obviously doesn't want China to develop their EUV machines as it has successfully coerced ASML from Netherlands not to sell to mainland China. TSMC (Taiwan), Samsung and SK Hynix from South Korea are of course using EUV lithography machines by ASML. Now they will need to rely on USA for Helium = tight leash on their economies. USA is the largest natural gas and oil producer in the world. Russia has the largest proven natural gas reserves, Iran has the second largest, and also 3rd largest proven oil reserves. Play out #2 and #3 with war and then USA has near monopoly in the market. It is obvious that USA is playing on who controls the energy game and the aim is nothing less than total world domination.

Bombing the infrastructure off the Iranian portion of this field will probably increase production on the Qatari side. There is no geological boundary where the political boundary is drawn, and the reservoir pressure will increase where it is in communication across the border.

Why would the US also risk destruction of Qatar gas fields or is that also a goal?

How is it that a magic circle tax advisor brain can’t see what I saw coming. Did you actually advise Starmers Clown Show on this policy @DanNeidle ?
Replying to @DanNeidle
His premise for CGT reform is nonsense. Raising CGT reduces the tax take as there is no reward for risk taking. When Ireland halved CGT from 40% to 20% in 1997, the CGT tax take went up 77%.
