@DanielPlotkin_ (@AuburnKINES) et al. look at the effects of exercise stressors and disuse, and how these impact skeletal muscle myosin heavy chain fragmentation!

Proud of this one by @DanielPlotkin_ and the lab. Going to keep down this rabbit hole. Interested in thoughts here. Myosin heavy chain fragmentation as a potential marker of protein degradation in response to resistance training and disuse atrophy biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Progressive overload is important in training
How should we progress, by increasing the load or number of repetitions?
Both methods may be similarly effective for strength and size

Important data by @DanielPlotkin_ and our Auburn team and fantastic collab with @bretcontreras and @MennoHenselmans. Similar glute hypertrophy with hip thrust vs back squats and cool strength data to boot. #truth!!! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Excited to have my masters thesis published! A lot of hours spent on this one. Thanks for a great masters experience! @BradSchoenfeld
Progressing with reps is at least as effective as progressing load over an 8-week mesocycle in trained individuals. Time to reconsider guidelines for progression models? Kudos to our student @DanielPlotkin_ for leading way with a terrific thesis study! peerj.com/articles/14142/

We have two papers officially pubbed in the current issue of Sports. Both are open-access and free for all to read, share, discuss... 💪@DanielPlotkin_ @DrMikeRoberts @drcodyhaun @DorianVarovic
My Nutrition 1 teacher in undergrad said she got so good at identifying vitamin deficiencies that she could just spot them while walking around the airport. On a scale of 1-10,000 how many pounds of bullshit is that? 💩
People that motivate others by saying it’s “in their control” and I was “never a natural” ignore the fact that while it MAY be true you are not a “natural”(often not the case) it is also likely that you have a higher propensity for ANOTHER related trait; grit, pain tolerance etc.
Our review of BCAA supplementation shows no benefits on strength/hypertrophy when sufficient daily protein is consumed. Kudos to my master's student @DanielPlotkin_ for leading the way @proftipper @vanevery93

Very exciting 😊 thanks for the help! Excited for the future!
Excited to have this one accepted in IJSNEM. Particularly proud of my master's degree student, @DanielPlotkin_, for taking the lead. His first publication as lead author of what will undoubtedly be many more to come. Look forward to sharing once pubbed 💪
Cool! Another fact I learned recently, one second is determined by a tonic clock as the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state cesium-133 atom. 😉
researchgate.net/publication… Thoughtful piece, and I’m a sucker for a catchy title 😇.
