That’s a lot…..
BREAKING: US and China combined M2 money supply surged +$7.9 trillion YoY in August, to a record $76.4 trillion. This figure has more than doubled over the last 10 years. This comes as China’s M2 soared to $53.1 trillion, while US M2 jumped to $23.3 trillion, both at all-time highs. Their combined M2 is now on track for a 4th consecutive full-year increase. M2 has increased more than +$7.0 trillion YoY for 8 consecutive months, its longest streak since 2021. By comparison, before the 2020 pandemic, US and China combined M2 increased +$3.0 trillion per year on average, less than half the current rate. Global liquidity is expanding at a historic pace.

Brock Bowers is truly the Raiders WR1 who can also play tight end lol
The Brock Bowers element to the Raiders passing attack was so cool. Kubiak deployed him as an X-receiver who can moonlight at TE (45 snaps slot/wide vs 9 inline) As a defense, treat him like a WR & you're at a disadvantage vs. run. Treat him like a TE & he gets 1-on-1s w/ space

The Fed is printing money to buy US Treasury bills... more than during Covid. - Covid: ~$320B - Last 9 months: ~$355B Everyone is talking about the Fed hike... no one is talking about Warsh printing money Covid-style to buy UST bills. At the same time, Bessent is issuing more UST bills to buy back US long-term debt. In other words, the Treasury buyback is nothing else than QE in disguise. We don't own enough hard assets for what's coming.

The government's playbook since 1971: 1. The government spends more than it earns. 2. It must take on debt to fund the difference. 3. The Fed creates money to buy the debt. 4. More money makes every dollar worth less. 5. Everything gets more expensive.

Fernando Mendoza signed a rookie contract in July worth $57.27 million. Fully guaranteed. He is 22 years old. This week he announced what he is doing with his rookie season. He is starting a series called Finance with Fernando to teach people his age how to handle money. His words in the trailer. "My true passion is fiscal responsibility." He is not bluffing. He graduated from the Haas School of Business at Berkeley, and he is finishing a master's in business administration in December. Here is how he got to the point where a 22 year old can say that. All four of his grandparents left Cuba for Miami in 1960. He grew up in Miami and played at Christopher Columbus High School. In two seasons as the starting quarterback he threw for 1,396 yards and 16 touchdowns. Total. Nobody was building a recruiting class around that. He committed to Yale. Then another recruit's decision opened a door at California, and he went to Berkeley instead. He redshirted in 2022. He started eight games in 2023 and eleven in 2024. Then he hit the portal and went to Indiana, a program that had gone 9-27 in the three years before Curt Cignetti showed up. What happened next does not really happen. Indiana went 16-0. Mendoza threw 41 touchdown passes, a school record. They won at Oregon. They beat No. 1 Ohio State for the Big Ten title. Rose Bowl against Alabama, he went 14 of 16 for 192 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-3 win. Peach Bowl against Oregon, five touchdowns. Then the national championship game, against Miami. The school in his own hometown. Indiana won 27-21. He was the offensive MVP. First Heisman Trophy in Indiana history. First national championship in Indiana history. Then the Raiders took him first overall. He wears number 15 for Tom Flores, who gave him his blessing to use it. And right now he is sitting behind Kirk Cousins. So instead of waiting around, he is finishing the MBA and starting a personal finance series for people who have never had money and are about to. One more thing worth knowing about him. His mother Elsa lives with multiple sclerosis. He and his brother worked with restaurants to put items on the menu that raise money for MS research. Turn on any sports broadcast in America right now and count the sportsbook ads. The number one pick in the draft started a show about not losing your money.

🚨 @LynAldenContact ON WHY NOTHING STOPS THE DEBT SPIRAL: "Congress going to say, 'The 10-year is over 5%, maybe we should trim defense spending or reform Social Security and Medicare?' It's not gonna happen. There's no political will to do that. Less than 1% chance. Negligible." On how it plays out instead: "If the Treasury market ever breaks, instead of Congress doing anything, the Fed steps in. They kind of have to because financial stability and moderate long-term yields are part of their mandate. Congress isn't doing it because the people don't really want it. They want a balanced budget in theory. But do you want to cut this, this, and this, or raise your taxes? 'Well, no.'" On the historical endpoint: "The end game for highly indebted governments, nearly 100% of the time, ends with financial repression, trying to inflate that debt away, and impairing cash and bondholders. Whether it's the central bank doing it, whether it's the Treasury doing it, whether they take turns, these are the types of things you see when you start getting over 100% debt to GDP and no realistic austerity anywhere near the horizon."

BREAKING: US imports of crude oil from Venezuela surged +183,000 barrels per day last week, to 782,000 barrels per day, the largest weekly total since August 2017. Over the last 6 months, imports from Venezuela have surged +550,000 barrels per day, or +237%. As a result, US imports of crude oil from Venezuela have averaged +626,000 barrels per day over the last 3 months, the largest 3-month average in 9 years. To put this into perspective, imports were as high as 1.5 million barrels per day in 1997 and consistently averaged above 1 million barrels per day between 1995 and 2007. The US is rapidly ramping up its consumption of Venezuelan oil.

France is a warning to America. Big government. High taxes. Endless regulation. No spending restraint. The outcome: stagnation, social unrest, an unaffordable welfare state, a credit-rating downgrade, and a massive debt and deficit problem. Prosperity does not come from more government spending, debt, and political spending. It comes from private sector growth, investment, productivity, and sound money.
