Since my Tesla Roadster sim blew up a little, here's a proper update with the newer specs from the Top Gear interview (RWD, ~1.7 t, ~1 MW, 200 L tank, tyres alone ~1.26 g).
The big question is what Musk's "2 g" means:
🔵 2 g of fan suction: 1:30.8, 1.8 s faster than Verstappen's 2025 pole
🟢 2 g of cornering (a 1 g fan, just enough to hold it upside down): 1:42.0, 9.5 s slower
So 1g of force from the fan is worth around 11s around COTA.
Same straights, same top speed; the whole gap is in the corners. Either way it's far ahead of the WEC Hypercar pole (1:57.7). @Tesla @elonmusk

Every time GitHub has an outage our team is paged. Incidents at Vercel get automatically filed by anomaly detection systems.
We just detected an outage 16 minutes before their status page changed. Deployments suddenly dipped and surged.
Despite all the chatter about coding AGI, the reality is that software infrastructure remains an extremely hard problem.
I have no doubt the GitHub team is highly competent, and there's no shortage of models and agents available to them. Don't forget this is the company that brought us Copilot, the first major breakthrough product in AI coding. Yet clearly the prompt "/goal scale GitHub, make everything extremely fast, make no mistakes" is not enough.
The hard parts of software remain very hard, especially under unprecedented demand, as more people join in on the fun of building new things.

First day of the week and I'm already dealing with a "crisis."
Our Head of Sales just sent me an email at 7:45 AM saying we need to "urgently discuss" expanding cloud storage because his team is "running out of space."
I checked the usage logs. His team is using 40% of their allocated storage.
But I'm not going to tell him that.
I scheduled a meeting for Thursday at 3 PM. Told him I need time to "analyze usage patterns and evaluate our infrastructure capacity."
What I'm actually going to do: nothing. I'm going to look at the same logs I just looked at, wait until Thursday, and tell him in person that we have plenty of space, but I can "reallocate resources from other departments" to give his team more headroom.
He'll feel like I solved a problem. His team will feel prioritized. And I'll look like I spent four days doing complex analysis.
