I was driving around one of the wealthier suburbs the other day and passed the house that a boomer co-worker bought for $35K in the 1980s and now would we worth well over $1M. Pissed me off
I’m fairly certain that when the final tally is made, the floods last weekend will go down as the costliest and most disruptive disaster in Milwaukee’s history.

In Guatemala you see billboards paid for by NGOs pleading with people to pay their taxes.
Because the government is too weak to enforce tax collection, they have to rely on PSAs
And the only people who truly benefit from this are the corrupt elite. Everyone else suffers.
Bob Uecker’s passing still resonates because among us white Midwesterners he represented a familiar type that we grew up with.
My grandfather had the same deadpan sense of humor. The same affect, the same style.
He died when I was a kid, but Uecker kept his spirit alive.
