Kemi spent most of her response attacking the Tory welfare record.
A reminder that under their watch:
Neets up 250k between 2021 and 2024;
Welfare spending rose twice as fast as in this Parliament;
Millions signed off and written off on sickness and disability benefits.

About 50% of their staff are on Universal Credit.
Why don't we crackdown on this unneeded benefit for billionaires?

If Chancellor includes tax revenues from not yet approved #Rosebank oil field to fund his budget it’s environmentally ruinous & morally obscene. As the planet burns, claiming emissions won’t “count” because the oil is burned overseas is reckless & cynical

A reminder most of Europe’s electricity isn’t priced on gas which is one of the main reasons (but not only reason) it’s generally cheaper than in GB.
Approving Jackdaw will make no difference at all.
The only thing that will is either market reform or reducing gas demand.

Burnham capitulates to lobbying from Shell. Who'd a thought? 'Establishment' all the way through him like a stick of Blackpool rock and enslaved to big business & the wealthy. And fuck our children and grandchildren. You'd hardly know Starmer had gone.

An absolutely terrible decision on Jackdaw.
It will do nothing to lower people's energy bills or improve our energy security.
Investing in renewable energy is the way to do that.
The Government has got this badly wrong. It must not repeat the same mistake with Rosebank.

Approving the drilling of Jackdaw is the wrong decision on every front.
It won't bring down bills, it creates barely any jobs, and it undermines our climate commitments.
True energy security comes from rapidly expanding homegrown renewables, not continuing our reliance on volatile fossil fuels. The idea that we need more drilling to fund them is exactly what the fossil fuel lobby wants us to believe.

The chance to keep global warming below 1.5°C with no overshoot is gone.
But urgent action can still limit the overshoot and bring warming back to 1.5°C by 2100.
Current policies, however, put the 🌎 on course for up to 2.8°C this century.

We have just experienced our hottest summer on record.
It is unfathomable that the government would approve another gas field in the midst of a climate emergency.
The government has put the profits of fossil fuel giants over the future of our children. Beyond shameful.

Jackdaw gas field has been approved.
More UK gas on its way by the end of the month.
Is UK gas cheap yet? No!!!
Is UK more energy secure? No!!!
Will Shell & Equinor profits be up? Yes!!!
Will UK consumers be better off? No!!!
See how this works yet?

This is totally incoherent. Science is clear - we can’t afford to burn reserves we *already* have if we’re to meet climate targets, let alone develop new ones - the Minister used to say this herself
This isn’t a step towards clean power - it’s another step to #climate breakdown
Energy Secretary @Miatsf says Zack Polanski's criticism about the govt giving the green light to Jackdaw is "complete nonsense".
The government claims they can still meet their climate objectives.

using government calculations for climate harm, burning Jackdaw's gas will cause an estimated £16.1 billion in global damage and over 8,000 heat-related deaths.
all of this for 27 jobs and no impact on gas prices.
no other way to describe this than an act of violence.
