Institutions are coming to Ethereum. ETH's price just hasn't caught up yet @davidduong, new head of US at Ethereum Institutional: "The price follows the usage with a bit of a lag" "Ethereum is now where everyone's coming to shop"

My first interview with @milkroaddaily as the Head of US for @ethereuminsti -- thanks @BitcoinJesusETH for having me on the show!
Wall Street is moving billions onchain. So why is $ETH still stuck at $2,500? @DavidDuong, Head of U.S. at @ethereuminsti, says Ethereum adoption is accelerating, with JPMorgan now bringing its deposit token to mainnet. But there's a catch: more Ethereum activity doesn't necessarily mean more value for ETH holders. Thank goodness that The Economist posted a scare piece about the bond market. Otherwise I'd be worried that high yields might derail my bull market expectations. #contrarian_indicator

"Right now, the level of yields can actually rise without the inflation story being the key here." David Duong on the three scenarios behind rising yields "What I'm acknowledging is that we have seen a real yield shock. That's no surprise. We've seen real yields go up by 50 basis points. Obviously, there's something being impacted. The question I think we need to ask is what is contributing to that?" "Because if this is a fiscal blowup, then we have a huge problem. If this is because we're on a trend for higher rates, and this is gonna continue on for another four or five, six meetings, we have a problem." "If this is because this is nominal GDP and yields are actually sitting at equilibrium, yields going higher because growth is actually increasing, because we're kinda pricing that in and the inflation trend as a result, over the long term, not thinking over the short period hit by oil prices — then this could actually be considered just equilibrium levels that could be good for risk." "I'm not saying that we are not going to actually have some retracement in some of these things. In fact, I think that that's what's happening with Bitcoin, because I think a lot of that has to do with profit taking and short gamma positions held by the dealers." "I think that yields can actually go up while risk actually does fairly well. I think that this is going to be a short term problem, not a longer term, medium-term issue."

David Duong says BTC could creep above $100,000 by year end, and de-dollarization isn't why "The de-dollarization theme is definitely one that drives Bitcoin. To a longer term kind of thinking, this is definitely how I see Bitcoin fall inside people's portfolios, because this is the hedge against whether any of these kind of currencies, including the dollar, probably won't have long term value." "But it's just whether it's something I'm pricing right now, that's the only kind of pushback I would have. I don't think it's what truly is driving any purchases that we get in the short term." "I think the short term has a lot more to do with: okay, technicals have been pretty poor for a while, things are recovering, liquidity is back, this looks like an asset that looks attractive right now. And I think this is kind of why we're seeing Bitcoin creeping higher." "But this is irrespective of the fundamental kinda macro that a lot of people are trying to attach the story to."

David Duong says ETF holders reclaiming $82K triggered profit-taking, and 80 is where accumulation starts "One thing that you didn't mention, and I think a lot of people aren't paying attention to it. Bloomberg's James Seyffart said that we've now reclaimed the $82,000 average cost basis for those ETF holders. And I think that part is what's important, because that is what's driving the price action over the last 24 to 48 hours." "It's very hard to reconcile, if we're flipping positive on all these flows, then why is it that we were down $2000 on Bitcoin? A big part has to do with the fact that people wanna take profits when they actually reclaim those levels, because they're like, oh man, I've been holding this forever. I'm up, get me out of here." "They're probably not the Bitcoin holders that would listen to the show, which would be like, are you kidding us? We've been holding for 10 years. What are you talking about? You've held it for 2 years." "On the other side of that, you also have a lot of dealers who are now sitting on short gamma positions on Bitcoin. So probably the combination of the two is what's dragged us a little bit lower." "This is obviously an unequivocal good for Bitcoin. I think you'll see it reset here, and I wouldn't expect it to reset below 80. I think it's probably gonna get to the 80 level again, and you're gonna start seeing buyers come in. But I would expect that this is a place you're gonna see more accumulation rather than people trying to capitulate."

Tokenized RWAs have nearly doubled this year, but the capital behind them isn't new, and on-chain yield no longer clears risk-free. The next yield comes from off-chain. Looping it could beat TradFi, but only if the collateral is built to carry the weight.

Onchain credit still mostly fails at protecting the people funding it. The writeup attached is a clean walk through on why-- underwriting can stop at the entity, backstops can be priced in the protocol’s own token, and shared pools can turned one bad asset into everyone’s problem. The design bet behind Axcess is the part worth discussing. Grade the borrower before any capital moves, put a seizable first-loss buffer of the borrower’s own cash ahead of lenders, and ring-fence each name so one default doesn't become a systemic issue. Two caveats, because they matter: 1⃣The Credora process described here is not live yet. And there is no loss history. Until both exist, this is still architecture, not evidence. 2⃣I advise Axcess through my consulting company. This is not a solicitation and not investment advice.
Onchain credit can originate loans. It still can't protect the lenders funding them. We built Axcess to fix that: independent underwriting, a real first-loss buffer, and per-borrower ring-fencing, before any of it goes composable.

I'm waiting for markets to pick up after Jackson Hole and for BTC to appreciate towards end-Q3 or early Q4. On the other hand, my boss used to remind me that you can pick the direction or you can pick the timing, but you rarely nail both.
David Duong on when he thinks Bitcoin buyers come back "How do we time when to get into Bitcoin, when does it come back? We're in the summer doldrums, liquidity isn't great right now. Probably this drags on another 4 to 6 weeks, that's my guess" "That puts us sometime in September, which also puts us before that 10/10 event from 2025" "I think that's the sweet spot for people to start accumulating Bitcoin again and coming back"

Always a fan of being on the Wolf of All Streets podcast with @scottmelker ... thanks to my panelists @dmweisberger and @mikemcglone11 for chatting all things macro!
David Duong explains why the gold trade won't deliver the same parabolic gains it did last time "It doesn't mean gold can't climb, it's just not going to make the same parabolic highs it made last time. Last time it was a momentum trade, people were chasing the central banks, chasing the buyers in China who were trying to accumulate gold because they were worried about the fiscal risks imposed on them" "Are you going to see the same kind of thing repeat? People might chase it, but I don't think we're going to see the same levels we saw last time" "You could absolutely do the gold trade again, I just would say beware, your expectations need to be capped at this point. It's not going to reach the same kind of doubling in value that you saw in the last round"

David Duong: The new Fed chair came out hawkish at his first meeting, but that was the only move he could make... "What was he going to do? Was he going to come out right off the gate and be like... guys it's totally fine, we should be cutting rates?" "Like he obviously would lose all his credibility if he did that." The real signal is who else is on the board and what they say next. FT @DavidDuong @BitcoinJesusETH @Securitize.
Scaramucci: Kevin Warsh's first press conference wasn't what anyone expected. "The next move is likely a hike rather than a cut." Novogratz: "It was a master class in establishing leadership, establishing his dominance, establishing integrity." "I don't think he hikes, but he might." FT @Scaramucci @Novogratz @AllThingsMkts @SkyBridge.
