Israel is massacring Palestinians in schools. Canada is still arming Israel.
On Aug 20 we are flooding our MPs inboxes, voicemails and socials to demand they end the Canada-Israel arms trade and endorse the call for an #ArmsEmbargoNow.

Canada's first national security strategy in 20+ years includes not a single reference to human rights or the perpetration of international crimes.
We just launched Canada’s first national security strategy in over 20 years.
Canada is acting with determination and ambition to protect our sovereignty, strengthen our resilience, and build our prosperity.

A HUGE congrats to all the trade unionists who organized for years to secure this win ✊🏼🇵🇸
Canada's unions passed a resolution calling on workers to refuse to handle weapons and military equipment destined for Israel.
We stand with Palestinian workers in their fight for peace, justice, and respect for international law.

“The Canadian Network on Cuba’s press conference also followed the introduction of parliamentary petition e-7649 to the House of Commons, backed by NDP MP Leah Gazan (Winnipeg Centre), which gathered over 3,000 signatures. It was the third petition on this issue presented in 2026.”

It’s been a year and a half since the election, and the Carney government still has not made any meaningful reduction in the cost of living. Canadians continue to struggle with outrageous prices.
Why is this Liberal government failing to make life more affordable for Canadians?

Full solidarity with colleague Prof Andreas Malm, banned from entering the UK for siding with Palestine Action. This is outrageous. He is one of the best and most principled academics. @andyburnham please reverse immediately. I stand with both Palestine Action and Andreas.

Exactly what the labour movement should be doing.
Great to see.

I'm not sure most Canadians realize what's happening right now with Indigenous folks and the Carney government.
Today, voice after voice from Indigenous leadership, youth, from across the country, has been telling us they're gearing up for a fight for their rights.
This is big!

Here is a quote about Indigenous children from Canada’s first Prime Minister. It was always about the land and the resources. Still is. Approximately half of all children in provincial care in the colonial project called Canada are Indigenous.

We have written to the CBC requesting a change to the misleading title of their article "Why a spate of gun-for-hire shootings in Toronto were likely paid for by Iran."
What the investigation in the article confirms is that the shootings are linked by a multi-layered gun-for-hire network.
What is not established through the facts in the article is any concrete link to Iran. Instead, this appears to be entirely in reference to intelligence reports from Canada (CSIS), the FBI, and the UK, which have raised concerns regarding alleged Iranian-linked plots against Jewish-Canadians. These reports themselves originate from an American federal court complaint which alleges that two attacks in Canada were ordered by an Iraqi national named Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood al-Saadi with potential links to Iran, who had been arrested in Turkey and extradited to the United States. The complaint cites multiple conversations between al-Saadi and an undercover FBI agent. These are allegations based on undercover FBI operations, not criminal findings.
Given the fact that the courts have not decided on a verdict, there is still no conclusive evidence connecting Iran to the shootings in Canada.
Unfortunately, the article does not discuss the unconfirmed status of these allegations, but appears to treat them as sufficient evidence to support the article’s thesis, as reflected in the article’s title.
Reporting this as “likely” based on the evidence to date unfortunately adds fuel to rising Islamophobia in Canada, whose proponents use these anti-Iran conspiracies to normalize and justify anti-Muslim hate.
Today CBC published an article with the headline: “Why a spate of gun-for-hire shootings in Toronto were likely paid for by Iran.”
I was intrigued, as there has been almost 0 evidence offered for this claim thus far.
Unfortunately this article doesn’t offer any either, adding nothing new. CBC says they spent weeks on the investigation, so these are pretty pitiful results, at least in terms of finding evidence of who paid for the shootings.
I’m not sure why they feel comfortable with such a declarative headline given the lack of evidence (other than journalistic standards going out the window when the subject is an Official Enemy country).
Also, CBC and other journalists continue platforming police claims that they need backdoor access to messaging apps to solve these shootings, with no push back or critique about how these powers can be abused, including against journalists.

🇨🇺 Yesterday, after the U.N. General Assembly voted resoundingly to reject the U.S. blockade on Cuba, New Yorkers gathered outside the Cuban mission to salsa in a show of solidarity.
The U.S. has been punishing the Cuban people for over 60 years simply for asserting their sovereignty.
It's time for the U.S. to end this criminal blockade.

Without all those sanctions & obstacles Cuba would be a global powerhouse! It is AMAZING how well they've endured, in spite of it all!
Bravo Cuba.

I don’t know what to say anymore. As doctors, we can’t stop a genocide and we can’t end a famine.
We provided a diagnosis - genocide.
We provided a prescription to end the genocide - for Canada to end its complicity and direct involvement in Israel’s crimes now.

Canada's unions won't back down.
Today, labour leaders announced plans for a national war room to fight Carney's attacks on the right to strike.
The govt wants a stronger economy, but it's picking an unfair fight with the workers who keep it running.
