I wrote a thing about Orwell and "patriotism"; the odd and interesting "love" part in "love of country", that isn't dinner dates but might be to do with possession and jealousy. You should read it because it is amusing, some think insightful. abc.net.au/religion/the-patr…

And why does @BBC give Ratcliffe extensive coverage on #bbcnews tonight? It’s giving free time to a right wing rant by a billionaire tax avoider, Brexit supporter and fossil fuel propagandist
Man who supported Brexit then fucked off to Monaco to avoid contributing a penny of his £15 billion fortune to public services makes the mistake of thinking anyone gives a shit what he thinks.

Some 6,000 people — 200 of them children — are right now starving to death in a humanitarian catastrophe orchestrated by Vladimir Putin's Russia. The town of Oleshky and its surrounding district in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast exist under Russian occupation as a prison — and it is rapidly turning into a death camp. No one is allowed in or out. The last food delivery was on May 26. Medical supplies are close to non-existent. kyivindependent.com/editoria…

Why is it important to talk about OLESHKY ? Because people there are starving, and russia is not allowing them to evacuate. The international community needs to put prеssure on russia. And for that, we need to spread the word. Please tag your leaders. Only together can we help. Talk about Oleshky. Please don’t stay silent.

Keep in mind, French intelligence provides targeting intel to Ukraine for deep strikes…
A French military source told Le Monde that France is already carrying out undisclosed conventional military responses to Russian hybrid attacks. Asked whether Paris could retaliate militarily without making it public, the source replied: “That is already happening.”

It's amazing how many people believe it's more plausible that several European countries & governments are involved in an intricate conspiracy to make Russia look like an aggressor - rather than one country, already involved in a war of conquest it previously lied about, being one.

Similar to RN support for frexit. They always begin by stating the policy most advantageous to Putin’s Russia. Then someone maybe Putin phones and points out that, considering the polling and focus groups, openly supporting Russia isn’t the best way of supporting Russia.

I do ask myself whether these fools watched Passport to Pimlico the whole way through. Ditto Brexit. First thing those leaving the club loose is free movement outside their borders.
The newly independent Piddington has little in the way of natural resources or other forms of income to look after its inhabitants. Other than an empty barracks which it can rent to the Government to house migrants.

It’s amazing how crucial the high-hat & cymbal rhythm background is to the success of the pastiche (which was on the radio a fair bit in the 70s&80s). Bearing out my previous thesis. Fake Ringo and you faked the Beatles .@KlassicalKat_88
We begin Friday with a pastiche par excellence, courtesy of "The Prefab Four", The Rutles. I Must be in Love encapsulates the early Beatles material perfectly and is inordinately clever. I know that the great Eric was one of the people responsible for writing these wonderful tunes, but let's not forget the other, Neil Inness, whose reputation for being a good egg is only matched by his reputation for being a quiet genius.  God bless Neil. Wooooooooooo!!!!

It’s only about 70% successful. The drummer gets the wall of white noise but he doesn’t at all get the breaks and intros and shuffles

This is shameless propaganda. The United States is NOT getting ownership of Greenland. Stop plastering the U.S. flag on our land as if Greenland has somehow become American territory. It hasn’t.!! Greenland remains Greenland under the Kingdom of Denmark. Show some respect for our land and the people of Greenland!! Shame on you!!!!!

“Pro-Palestinian” has become a cover for obvious nazi-level jew-hate. And this is appropriate because is the fact they were at crucial points lead by people directly involved in Nazi jew-hate that results in the current position of palestinians.

To clarify: the Graham Russia sanctions act is theoretically designed to stop exactly the kinds of deals the Trump circle appears to want with Russia. But it also allows the president to issue waivers, so Trump could sign the act, do the deals, and issue waivers that cover them.
Two things: 1. Anyone who says that the Trump circle want business deals with Russia now for any reason except the desire for business deals with Russia, is either kidding themselves or trying to mislead us. 2. This would be banned by the sanctions act heading to Trump's desk.

It is not humiliating for him, since he has no sense of dignity, but it is humiliating for the rest of us that the president of the United States serves as a subordinate press officer of the Kremlin, saying things that are not only false and cruel but which only Russians could have instructed him to say, since there is no way he could have thought of them himself, and since they depend on knowledge that he does not have.
