Daylan Maxwell

BUILT DIFFERENT: Jackson County RB @DaylanMaxwell Surpasses 4,000 Career Rushing Yards Jackson County High School (GA) | RB | 5'7", 180 lbs When discussing some of the most productive running backs in Georgia high school football, one name deserves to be mentioned among the best: Daylan Maxwell. The 2027 running back out of Jackson County High School has officially surpassed 4,000 career rushing yards, adding another impressive milestone to a career defined by toughness, consistency, and production. Standing just 5'7" and weighing 180 pounds, Maxwell continues to prove that the size of an athlete doesn't determine the size of his impact. And the numbers speak for themselves. 4,000 Yards of Production Maxwell has been a driving force behind Jackson County's offensive success under head coach Korey Mobbs. His career rushing total now stands at approximately 4,137 yards, with 51 rushing touchdowns through October 23, 2026. His production over the past three seasons has been nothing short of remarkable: - 2024: 1,090 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns - 2025: 1,888 rushing yards, 26 touchdowns - 2026: 1,155 rushing yards, 15 touchdowns through eight games During the 2025 season, Maxwell established himself as one of Georgia's most productive backs, averaging 7.8 yards per carry while helping lead the Panthers to an 11-2 record. That momentum has carried into 2026. Against North Oconee, Maxwell rushed for 248 yards on 25 carries in a 20-14 victory. He followed that with several more outstanding performances, including 131 yards and four touchdowns against Apalachee. On October 23, Maxwell added 154 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Cedar Shoals, helping Jackson County improve to 8-0 and pushing his career total past the 4,000-yard mark. More Than Just a Running Back What makes Maxwell special isn't simply the yards he accumulates. It's how he gets them. He runs with a physicality that doesn't match his listed size. His low center of gravity, balance through contact, acceleration, and willingness to fight for additional yardage make him difficult for defenders to bring down. He can make defenders miss in space, but he is equally comfortable lowering his pads and running between the tackles. Maxwell's toughness is also evident away from the football field. ⭐️A two-time state wrestling runner-up, he brings the leverage, body control, discipline, and competitive mentality developed on the wrestling mat to the football field. Those characteristics help explain why he has become such an important piece of Jackson County's success. Coach Mobbs has previously described Maxwell as the heartbeat of his team and one of the toughest players he has coached. ⭐️College Coaches: Don't Overlook the Production The recruiting process often places significant emphasis on height, weight, and physical measurements. But at what point does consistent production demand greater attention? Maxwell has rushed for more than 4,000 yards against Georgia high school competition. He has demonstrated the ability to carry an offense, produce in meaningful games, and deliver when his team needs him. For college programs evaluating running backs in the Class of 2027, his film and production warrant serious consideration. His compact frame, vision, contact balance, and competitive toughness are qualities that can translate to the next level. You cannot coach toughness, heart, or the willingness to compete on every snap. Maxwell has consistently demonstrated all three. Leaving His Mark at Jackson County As Jackson County continues its impressive 2026 campaign, Maxwell's accomplishments deserve recognition. Four thousand rushing yards don't happen by accident. While his individual numbers continue to grow, his contributions to the Panthers' success are just as important. At 5'7", 180 pounds, Maxwell may not fit everyone's traditional expectations of a college running back, but his résumé tells a different story
