I don't know if it's the greatest, but I think about Bart Giamatti's "The Green Fields of the Mind" quite often.

Rather than complain about her online, the Christian thing to do is to invite her to your home for a meal.
Let her wear her hood the whole time.
Woman at church yesterday showed up in a sweatshirt and literal pajama pants. Wore her hood the entire service. I was absolutely appalled. I hate this whole, “came as you are” narrative the Protestant church preaches. Other religions wouldn’t let you in if you dressed so disrespectfully. Why is it only Christian’s that are held to this standard? That we must just accept everything?

Take it from me, someday you'll go to Thanksgiving dinner and there will be no kids' table, and you will hate every minute of it.
The problem with this World Series is that it is putting near perfect baseball on display which means we won't see play this good again for a long time.
When I was a kid, my dad would sometimes go out on Sunday mornings and come back with donuts and a big city paper.
The big city paper would have a color comics section that would take a while to read. Man, I loved that.
Kids today will never know the joy of interacting with that kind of tactile, handheld experience.
Just read the opening of an Aldous Huxley short story in which the speaker is describing the view of Tuscan landscape from his apartment window.
Such fine, engaging writing.
Something you might not associate with Huxley if you've only read "Brave New World."

Without life long, systemic, global nurturing experiences, we have no idea what being a homo sapient is really like. We can only know what we are like under profound, and deeply damaging prolonged stress and fear. Conditions we were not built for.
I hate to hear people say life spans in the past were universally shorter.
It's obviously not true.
“But humans lived until 40 years then!!”
This was NEVER true. Humans have always lived into their 80s and 90s.
Read any book on Ancient Greek society or study hunter gatherer tribes like the Inuit who regularly lived into their 90s.
The “average lifespan” was 40 because many died during childbirth weighing down the average
if you survied childbirth you were basically as likely to live as long today.

In a completely unpredictable turn of events, we have an episode whose premise is the Lucy wants to be in the show.
We live in a weird time when so many people are longing for a decent connection to family and community, a decent, steady income, a stable place to live.
All things previous generations took for granted.
Our culture these days is engineered to push people to override their intuition.
The real coming conflict will be between those who can sense and trust their intuitions and those who don't.

Something about materialism/consumerism has distracted us from life largely being about finding our people.
