I’d like to congratulate all Tory voters and Brexiters for this…
We couldn’t have done it without you.

I'm of the view that this piece from James Hansen and 17 others last week is one of the most important published on the state of the climate crisis in years. A 🧵
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall inherit the earth.

My goodness this is powerful.
Holocaust survivor Gabor Maté. If you won’t listen to him, you won’t listen to anyone. #CeaseFireInGaza
It feels like the Tory party is trying to confuse us so much that they receive votes by default. Nothing about what they are saying makes any sense.
"I'm putting the next generation first" says Sunak - while approving the biggest undeveloped oil field in the North Sea, greenlighting the first coal mine in 30 years and rolling back a host of climate measures. Sure. #CPC23

At conference, Sunak said:
Nobody wants an election
NOBODY
This petition says otherwise
Yes, they'll ignore it
But the more signatures it gets
...the bigger the bell he looks.

Sunak keeps saying households were facing £10k-20k bills, primarily because of the cost of moving to a heat pump. Here’s the second major energy company inside a month announcing a heat pump at a cost that is comparable and even lower than a gas boiler. businessgreen.com/news/41310…

A short film about why the dirtiest and most antisocial economic interests dominate our politics. I believe it's the key to understanding the terrible state we're in.
Hear bloody hear.
This is cynical beyond belief.
The PM is pretending to halt frightening proposals that simply do not exist.
He is doing it to turn the environment into a US-style political wedge issue - something the UK has avoided all my political life.
Sunak is chucking the environment into a political fire purely to score points.
It is reprehensible.
Trigger warning…baby animal incoming. This might just leave you feeling all warm and happy. (Ps they are orphaned and so now safely tucked up in a box awaiting a call to @HARTWildlifeR in the morning).

Just Stop Oil are used by both Conservative and Labour politicians as a bogeyman against which to define themselves.
But JSO are right about the crisis we face, and the scale and speed of the response it demands. And the politicians are wrong.
Except we're not demanding the taps are turned off overnight. We are (also) demanding a managed decline of North Sea oil, starting with no more licenses for new projects.
It's the bare minimum our politicians should do. We have to stop new oil and gas.

Facing uncomfortable truths about our own long held lifestyle aspirations is one of the hardest things about becoming climate aware. We simply oughtn’t do the things our parents taught us to strive for. It’s a conversation I have with so many of my peers…

Lying little prick…
Sunak tells LBC listeners that the NHS waiting lists are caused by doctors striking.
So you know…
The waiting list was at 4 million pre-pandemic
It’s now at 7 million
And yet he’s blaming this on fewer than 10 days of strike action.
Unreal.
Proof that this Government has lied to us before to secure votes. And, as we all know, old habits die hard…
Revisiting a speech @grantshapps made at tory conf last year. "We cannot carry on relying as the world has done so many times on hydrocarbons" and said we would be "the first nation to get to incredible green industrial revolution", that net zero 2050 was in "conservative DNA".
For anyone requiring a clear explanation of why it’s fair to say the Prime Minister is pulling our leg. Give this a watch. Spoiler:
- we don’t need more oil…we’re already a net exporter
- we can’t bring down Gas prices for the UK…they’re set on the international market!
