We've been seeing more Africans getting involved in Web3, and it's good to see.
But we'd also love to know what people are actually building beyond the conversations on X.
At Decred Africa, we want to connect with more developers, designers, educators and community builders across the continent.
Whether you're working on a new product, growing a community or just getting started, we'd like to hear from you.
What are you currently working on? Tell us in the replies. 🌍

2016 feels like a lifetime ago in crypto. 😂
Think about how many projects have launched, made noise and disappeared since then.
Decred launched that year, and it's still here.
Still producing blocks, still seeing development, still giving stakeholders a role in its direction.
We don't talk enough about longevity in an industry that's always chasing the next big thing.
What crypto projects from 2016 are you still following today?

A question for everyone who's been in crypto for a while.
Have you ever stopped using a project because you didn't like the direction it was taking?
Most times, people just sell and move on.
But what if you could actually have a say before those decisions are made?
That's one of the great things about Decred. DCR stakeholders can vote on proposals and influence how treasury funds are spent.
Would you rather have a voice in a project's decisions or just leave when things go wrong?

GM Africa! 🌍☀️
New week, fresh energy.
Wishing everyone building, learning and finding their way in Web3 a productive week ahead.
What are you working on this week? 👀

Unpopular opinion 👀
Crypto has made people more interested in becoming early investors than actually understanding what they're investing in.
Someone can explain why a coin will do 10x but can't explain how its network works. 😂
We'd love to see that change.
So here's a challenge for the weekend:
Pick one thing about Decred you've never understood properly and spend 10 minutes learning about it.
Could be staking, mining, DCRDEX or even CoinShuffle++.
Come back and tell us what you discovered.

Heard of DCRDEX?
You can hold your own crypto and still depend on someone else to let you trade it.
That's something worth thinking about.
With DCRDEX, you can trade supported cryptocurrencies directly from your own wallet without depositing your coins into an exchange account.
No exchange holding your funds while you wait for a withdrawal.
Of course, you still need liquidity and a trading partner.
We're curious, how many people in Africa have actually tried trading this way?

Everyone wants to find the next 100x coin.
But lete ask our self this, what happens to a crypto project when the hype dies down and everyone moves on to the next shiny thing?
That's when you find out what was actually built.
Let's talk about @decredproject 🧵
We've been talking a lot about bringing Decred to more people across Africa, but there's another side to that conversation.
We also want to hear from people already building here.
What problems are African Web3 developers struggling to solve?
The next wave of crypto adoption in Africa won't happen through X posts alone People need opportunities to ask question, see how things work and meet the people building these projects
Thats one reason we're taking Decred into more conversations and events across the continent
A lot of people in Africa are getting into crypto, but most conversations still revolve around which coin to buy or what might pump next.
There's more to crypto than that
For example, how many people actually check who makes decisions in a project or how its funds are managed?
Decred is making its way into more important conversations across Africa.
Today, Decred Africa was represented at the Africa Blockchain Festival (ABF) in Nairobi, Kenya. 🇰🇪
A blockchain can be decentralised and still struggle to fund its own development.
So who pays the developers when there's no company running things?
Decred has an interesting approach to this.👇
Not everyone needs to know where your coins came from or where they're going.
That's why Decred has CoinShuffle++.
It allows DCR holders to mix their coins with those of other users, making it harder to trace who owns what.
Miners do the work of producing blocks on Decred, but do they have the final say? No.
That's where stakeholders come in.
For every block, 5 tickets are selected to vote. At least 3 must vote yes for the block to be approved.
