Tibet’s voice was heard loud and clear in New Delhi today at Tibet Cultural Festival - Spirit of Tibet.
Sikyong Penpa Tsering delivered the keynote at the inaugural seminar, “India and Tibet: Civilizational Confluence, Present Realities, and Strategic Horizons,” at the India International Centre.
A powerful reminder that the India–Tibet relationship is rooted in centuries of shared culture, compassion and civilizational ties — not just geopolitics.

China is turning Tibet into a giant dam and infrastructure zone, reshaping one of the world’s most fragile ecosystems with little regard for Tibetan voices or downstream communities. After the devastating Tibet Nepal floods, the warning is clear: Tibet’s rivers are not Beijing’s property.

China is blasting, drilling and building across one of the world’s most fragile mountain regions.
After the deadly Nepal–Tibet border disaster, one question cannot be ignored: has Beijing’s infrastructure frenzy made the Himalayas even more vulnerable?
It’s a serious & genuine concern for not only Tibet but India as well. We must support this. @SpokespersonMoD @PMOIndia @narendramodi @rashtrapatibhvn @GovtOfIndia_
Tibetan Expert Urges India to Raise Medog Dam Concerns at BRICS Summit
A Tibetan environmental expert has urged India to use the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi as an opportunity to raise concerns over China's planned mega hydropower project at Medog in southeastern Tibet, saying the project could have implications for the Brahmaputra River and communities downstream.
Dr Lobsang Yangtso, a Tibetan environmental expert, made the remarks during a joint press briefing in Dharamsala titled “Asia’s Water Tower in Crisis: Tibet-Nepal Flash Floods Demand Transparency.” The briefing was organised by the International Tibet Network and Students for a Free Tibet-India.
The comments come as attention remains focused on the impact of recent flash floods in the Tibet-Nepal border region. The flooding has raised wider questions about disaster preparedness, information sharing and the management of water resources in the Himalayan region.
The upcoming BRICS Summit could therefore provide an opportunity for India to raise broader concerns about transboundary water management and the environmental consequences of large-scale infrastructure development.

Nepal is paying a devastating price, and serious questions remain over what China knew and when it warned its neighbour.
Beijing’s relentless construction, damming and exploitation of Tibet’s fragile Himalayan ecosystem and rivers cannot be separated from the growing risks downstream.
The CCP demands trust while hiding information, silencing scrutiny and putting its interests first. History has taught us: never trust Beijing.

Two more lakes have formed in Tibet-Nepal Region 😱
All India Radio has reported that:
A barrier lake formed near the confluence of the Chhochen Khola and Purepu Tsangpo rivers in Nepal could face a high risk of breaching over the next three days
According to China’s Ministry of Water Resources, the lake held an estimated two million cubic metres of water as of this morning and was already overflowing
The ministry also warned that another three million cubic metres of water could enter the lake over the next three days, posing a high risk of a breach

A Nepali journalists’ collective has raised serious questions about the August 26 flash floods in Rasuwa, alleging that extensive Chinese construction and hill-cutting along the Tibet–Nepal border may have contributed to the disaster.
The claims remain unverified, but the warning cannot be ignored. Beijing’s unchecked infrastructure expansion, environmental destruction and exploitation of Tibet’s fragile Himalayan ecosystem could have consequences far beyond Tibet’s borders.
When rivers are dammed, mountains carved up and fragile ecosystems disrupted, downstream communities pay the price.

A devastating flash flood tore through Kyirong, Tibet, and Rasuwa, Nepal, on August 26, leaving communities shattered and hundreds feared dead or missing. The disaster destroyed villages and critical infrastructure along the Lhende River, which flows into Nepal as the Bhote Koshi.
But the full scale of the devastation in Tibet remains difficult to know. China’s tight information blockade, censorship and restrictions on independent media and humanitarian access are keeping the world in the dark. When lives are at stake, information should not be controlled by the CCP.
The international community must demand unfettered humanitarian and media access to Tibet, transparency and real-time cross-border disaster information, and an end to Beijing’s information blockade.
And language matters: Kyirong is Tibet. Tibet is not “Xizang.” We must not allow Beijing to control the language used to describe Tibetan places, people and tragedies.
Stand with the communities of Tibet and Nepal. Demand truth. Demand access. Stand with Tibet.

Tibet’s future is directly tied to India’s national security.
Bhuchung Tsering of the International Campaign for Tibet warns that Beijing is placing trusted non-Tibetan officials in sensitive Tibetan border regions, tightening its political control along the Himalayan frontier.
India cannot afford to treat Tibet as someone else’s issue. What happens in Tibet affects India’s borders, rivers and security.
India must recognise itself as a stakeholder in Tibet’s future.

A terrible and tragic flash flood has taken place at Gyirong in Tibet - China, and one of our Kailash groups was caught in it. While on their way back, they were at the immigration office when the flood occurred and the building and much of the town seems to have been flooded.
All of us, including the volunteers and support teams are deeply anguished and are doing our utmost to assist in the rescue. There has been no official information on the whereabouts of any of the people who were at the immigration office. We are working with the authorities to see if we can get to the location and stand ready to be part of the rescue efforts, regardless of the risk involved.
Of the 21 groups who are part of our Sojourn, 495 people have already returned safely. 743 people are currently in Tibet, 148 people are in Nepal, and 77 people were at the immigration center, and 3 volunteers in Timure, Nepal.
To the families and loved ones of those in our group and hundreds of others who are affected in the region, I share your pain and we are sparing no effort during this profoundly difficult time. I am personally in the region to ensure the best can be done in the given circumstances 🙏🏽- Sg
