Is this... an arms supply deal!!??? Is that what Carney's plan actually is??? To turn Canada into a leading arms and military equipment manufacturer? In which case this would be an (exclusive?) supply deal. Which would mean Canada would benefit from a forever war.

Apparently a lot of countries want to work with Ukraine because of their drone expertise. Canada is behind on that front. From what understand this is only a framework, not a fleshed out commitment.

And what exactly would Canada do with military drones on a large scale? I mean that as a serious question. Other than some usefulness in surveying remote areas, they are just more toys for our military to cosplay war with. Like the tanks we will never use for anything real.

Unless we want Ukraine's TECH, to manufacture drones ourselves to sell. "Buy Canadian" means "manufacture Canadian" and "strengthening economic ties" means selling what we make. It dovetails perfectly with his fearmongering and beating of the nationalist drum.

And what industries are the most profitable with the most moral "compromise"? O&G and arms sales. What industries tie Canada most closely to dictators, human rights violators, crime syndicates, colonialism and war? Carney wants to play with the big boys.

Don't be naive. The US is actively working to topple Canada economically and by funding & employing US Intelligence out in Alberta. I have my issues with Carney, but he is addressing a real threat. Don't forget he has access to intelligence that we'll never set eyes on.

Drones, planes, tanks, and submarines do not stop economic and political influence attacks. We're not buying them for physical defence. It's a (very expensive and risky) way to temporarily boost the economy.
