hi - here's a part of my personal journey towards abolition. When people say that we dont care about violence and survivors, they forget that we are survivors of violence, too. This story means a lot to me, the most actually.

When we say #DefundPolice, we mean reducing the size, budgets, and power of all institutions that surveil, police, punish, incarcerate, and kill Black people to zero. And yes, there's a toolkit for that: bit.ly/InterruptingToolkit

People outside of Berkeley (& most white people in Berkeley) think of it as some quaint hamlet that doesn't deal w/ the problems of the outside world (or even the adjacent cities). But Black folks & people of color know that leftover 60's mumbo jumbo isn't true. This proves that.
Defund Berkeley PD retweeted
People all over the world think of Berkeley as the most progessive and inclusive place in the U.S. But people who live in & around Berkeley know, if that's true, then it is only true for white people. Berkeley can't have a police chief making a comment like this especially NOW.

About those flyers ("isn't this publiv safety?") that we shared, that have gone viral...
The creator shared her concerns (which we share) about them being usef as tools for a shallow liberal agenda.
