Schulbau Messe Cologne: Building Automation for the Schools of Tomorrow At the Schulbau Messe in Cologne, our partners from Delta Controls Germany showcased how modern building automation can help create smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable learning environments. We’re proud to have celebrated the Beam Raising Ceremony at our new Delta IBT North American headquarters in Surrey, British Columbia, marking an important milestone in the building’s construction. This longstanding construction tradition marks the completion of the structural steel framework, bringing project partners together to sign and raise the 929th and final steel beam into place. A special thank you to @WalesMcLelland and all the project partners, ironworkers, and trades whose dedication and hard work have helped bring this vision to life. We look forward to seeing our new headquarters take shape as we continue building toward an exciting future for Delta IBT!

Traditionally, deploying Model Predictive Control (MPC) in buildings has required complex configurations, including dedicated servers, weather forecasting services, building automation system integrations, and ongoing maintenance. But what if deploying MPC could be as simple as configuring a PID controller? That’s exactly what George Aljamal, Andre Markus and Burak Gunay from Carleton University, in collaboration with Jayson Bursill, Data Scientist at Delta, have achieved: embedding a full MPC algorithm directly into a commercial RED5 zone controller. No dedicated servers. No internet connection. No weather forecast APIs. Just a simpler, more accessible approach to MPC, with the potential to reduce HVAC energy consumption by 15–20%. Building automation took center stage at our customer event at Museo Ondarossa in Italy. Together with our partner VM Technology, we welcomed customers for a day focused on practical building automation solutions, real-world applications, and live demonstrations. It was also a great opportunity to showcase the expanding Delta IBT portfolio, including LOYTEC and Delta Controls products, while connecting with industry professionals throughout the day. Live demos gave attendees a firsthand look at the solutions in action, because just like a great car, reading the spec sheet is one thing, but nothing beats a test drive. The event concluded with great discussions, networking, an aperitivo, and a tour of the museum’s remarkable collection.
