Marc Andreessen explains why AI might be the end of James Burnham's "managerial society" In his book The Managerial Revolution, Burnham divided capitalism into two phases. The first phase was what he called "bourgeois capitalism" "Think of this as name on the door -- it's Ford Motor Company because Henry Ford runs the company. It's a dictatorial model and Henry Ford just tells everyone what to do. He said the problem with bourgeois capitalism is it doesn't scale because Henry Ford can only tell so many people to do so many things." The second phase was what Burnham called "managerial capitalism", which was Marc describes as, "the creation of a professional class of managers that are trained -- not to be car experts or experts in any particular field but to be experts in management. And then that led to business schools and management consultant firms and all these things." Marc continues: "You look at every big company today and most executives at most of the Fortune 500 companies are not domain experts in whatever the company does. And they're certainly not the founders of those companies. They're professional managers. And in fact, over the course of their careers, they'll probably manage many different kinds of businesses. They might work in healthcare for a while and then work in financial services and then go work in something else." "What Burnham said was that transition was absolutely required because the problem with bourgeois capitalism is it doesn't scale... So if you're going to run capitalist enterprises that are going to have millions to billions of customers, they're going to be operating at a level of scale and complexity that will require this professional management class." Burnham acknowledged that this professional management class has its downsides -- they're not as inventive and not going to come up with the next breakthrough. But whether you think that's good or bad, that's what's going to be required. And basically that's what happened. Marc continues: "Managerialism basically took over everything. What I'm describing is basically how all big companies run and how all governments run and how our large-scale non-profits run." Marc believes venture capital is a protest movement to that -- backing founders under the Henry Ford model, and trying to find the next Elon Musk or Steve Jobs who can out-innovate the incumbents. "I've always viewed my entire life as: we're raging against the dying of the light. We're constantly trying to fight off managerialism from swamping everything and everything getting boring, gray, dumb, and old." But AI may now offer a third model. Marc explains: "Maybe the new Henry Ford, Elon Musk, or Steve Jobs + AI is the best of both because it's the spark of genius of the name on the door model but gives that person AI superpowers to do all the managerial stuff... What's the thing these bots are really good at? They're really good at doing paperwork, writing reports, and doing all the managerial work." "The challenge is going to be for the innovators to figure out how to leverage AI to actually do this." "The other challenge is going to be for the incumbents that are managerial to figure out: what does that mean? Because now they're going to be facing a different kind of insurgent competitor that has a different set of capabilities than they're used to." "I think this is going to force a lot of big companies to figure out innovation - figure out innovation or die trying." Ben Horowitz elaborates on this point further in his article Databricks & the Future Firm below. Video: @latentspacepod (Apr 2026)

This is f*cking insane. Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang: "Nobody writes prompts anymore. The new job is building loops and graphs The engineers who stopped prompting are already years ahead, and the rest will end up working for them" In this 50-minute talk, Jensen explains why prompting is over and what the best engineers are building instead Prompts → Agents → Loops → Graphs → AI Workforce Using AI doesn't mean writing better prompts into a chatbot It means loops that do the work, and graphs that run the loops without you 95% of people are still polishing prompts, the 5% who build loops and graphs will run everything Worth more than any $2,000 AI course Bookmark and watch it today Then save the full harness engineering guide below before everyone catches up ↓

How do datacenters get built and how GPU neoclouds actually get paid? @MRRydon breaks down the economics behind AI compute 👇
A lot of people ask me how the GPU neocloud business works. So I thought I would provide a little bit of an example. This is how GPUs actually get paid for in this market using IREN's public numbers as a reference. Step 1: the customer signs a multi-year take-or-pay contract and prepays. On IREN's recent 3-year contracts, prepayments covered 45% to 55% of the GPU cost. Step 2: a lender funds most of the rest, secured by the contracted GPUs. For the Microsoft contract that was investment-grade financing at around 6%, which together with prepayments covers 96% of the GPU capex. For a customer without an investment-grade rating, it was 9% fixed. Step 3: the data centre is a separate, long-life asset. IREN says it has funded construction with cash so far. Recent 3-year contracts bring in more than $20M of revenue per MW and pay back the GPUs in around two years. At that payback, 9% instead of 6% on the loan barely changes the economics. So the customer's prepayment and credit do most of the heavy lifting. Who the customer is matters far more than what the market thinks of AI on any given day, and I think that's the thing to follow.

“clearly not” according to whom? You? That's an opinion. The claim , NEAR PR, grant date are facts. One of us is citing documents, the other is citing himself. Nobody's deciding infringement on X, that's what courts are for. I'm pointing out the timeline you keep skipping: filed 2021, cited 2023, granted july, removed september. “failing to ship products” $ICP shipped this one in dec 2022. $NEAR shipped DFINITY paper as sloppy copy in 2024, called it "first of its kind". 🤣 Sorry mate, everything on $NEAR outside the token settlement layer is just Web3 LARPing and that's a fact. Even on the settlement layer, governance is LARPing. 2025: vote fails, foundation ships it anyway. CTO: "validators have the last word, always have." HSP-029: a yes activates nothing. A vote that changes nothing either way isn't governance, it's cosplay.🤣 Then there's NEAR AI a web2 company with a ticker. Jasnah Inc. runs the inference, picks the models, brokers the GPUs, bills you, and settles with the data centers. The chain's job is to be in the name. Don't take my word for it, scroll to the footer on near.ai: “© Jasnah Inc., DBA NEAR AI.” doing business as. They wrote it down for you.🤣

Now @AethirCloud $ATH token has a burn mechanic on top of their real world revenue. With neo clouds/ data centres coming, 2027 will be epic) great work from the team @MRRydon . 🔥 #crypto #AI #gpu
Major ATH tokenomics update: we’re introducing daily ATH burns, funded by a share of network fees. Every burn goes to a public burn address, where tokens are permanently removed from supply. The mechanism goes live in November. We’re also replacing the fixed platform fee with a floating network fee, set by a published formula that reads market conditions. When the market weakens, the fee falls and the share that gets burned rises. Cloud Hosts are protected by design: the fee can never exceed the value of Cloud Host rewards. The underlying host emissions schedule remains unchanged. The update changes the fee mechanism applied around those rewards. A dashboard tracking daily, monthly and cumulative ATH burned will be available in November. Burns that follow real network activity, and you can check every one of them. Read the full announcement below👇

It works with AI agents too. Three ways an agent can buy cycles: 1. Payment link: the agent sends you a link for your canister, you tap it and pay by card. No sign-in. 2. Order: the agent runs icp cycles buy, shows you the price, and on your yes gives you the checkout link. You pay, and it sees the cycles land and carries on. 3. ck-USDC: give the agent's identity a ck-USDC budget and it buys cycles on its own, no human needed. With a card, the agent never pays and never sees your card. cyclepay.org/docs#agents
