A good day for Leanne in her first marathon to place 8th overall at Nagoya. Now time for a rest then to plan the next challenge. @ASICSaustralia
With a small group in #canberra having 4 on that list.
100 Australians running Cross Country in NCAA Div 1 ... wow!

Results attached for some NCAA XC events in September (apologies for omissions)
If we're missing any Div 1 athletes, or if you know of others competing in other NCAA Divisions let us know
I posted this article 5 weeks ago. What a year 2026 has been for #canberra athletes. Leanne 15th at World XC in Tallahassee and Kieran @WAU20Champs 8th place in U20 1500m and of course @blingmatthews place 2nd at the World Cycling Champs.

When in Japan you do your track sessions on the roof @JRNHeadlines @AustralianAths @OregonTF 2027 will be interesting.

20 years ago just a student of mine who played basketball for the team I coached. Encouraged him to go to a talent id session and another world podium finish. Well done @blingmatthews

Haha the #joshkerr post of the 1k time trial is insane with him running 2:12 and Kieran here runs 2:24 and Kieran runs 3:42.25 for 1500m 3 weeks later at just 17. about 109 metres separate them.

Winter in #canberra but @WAU20Champs coming up soon. 1k TT for the u20 Aussie 1500m champion.
Coaching is rewarding, challenging and everything in between. Providing athletes with opportunities for growth and development is always the goal. Audrey came to me at 14 and now in her 1st semester running for Minnesota. A long way from #canberra
Well this photo was taken in June 2025 when Zoe won the #leonoramile since that time she has placed 6th in the Aus 1500m Champs, run 9:01 for 3k, 4:09 for 1500m and today runs a new 10k pb in windy Melbourne in 33:29 for 2nd. At 17 she was a 4:37, 10:14 1500/3k #keepthemrunning
These four very different journeys have shaped much of my thinking about talent identification and long-term athlete development @Scienceofsport @stevemagness #reallifeexamples

Hard to believe that it was a year ago that Leanne stunned the Australian running community by winning the Australian Marathon Championships. Unfortunately Leanne won't be running this year but I'm certain she will be back better than ever in the near future.
And just like that… it’s race week. 🙌

We had 14 athletes run National XC today at @ballarat @athleticsaustralia but for those that didn't race 12k session of surging hills with 350m elevation gain.
Great work team Athletics Australia and the coaches who supported the athletes. A special thank you to Jeff Riseley for his work with the male distance team.
Thank you, Oregon 🌲🫶
The final chapter comes to a close at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, with Australia’s 73-strong team leaving Eugene with six medals and plenty of memories from five days at Hayward Field.
A week to remember for the green and gold as the next generation of Australian stars make their mark on the global stage. 🇦🇺

A great result for this 17 year old athlete placing 8th in the World U20 1500m final. 10 weeks of training in the #canberra cold. Let's see what's next for this talented young athlete
Tomorrow (Monday) morning at 7:25am this young 17 year old will take on the best in the world over 1500m at U20 World Champs. @AustralianAths @insideaths @ath
Started working with this athlete at the age of 12 and today he has qualified for the World U20 1500m Championship final by running 3:42.94 and placing 3rd in his heat. Over the years I have been fortunate to work with great young athletes that do amazing things.
Last year at this time Leanne was preparing for the Sydney marathon. She will be back!

Start list are out for U20 World Athletics Championships. For the 17 year old who I coach and based on Pb's this season he has very little chance to make the final. It will be very interesting and a great learning experience. The young one is ready!
