Whether it’s the food on your plate, the milk in your fridge or the Christmas tree in your living room, Oregon agriculture touches all of our lives. Today we officially opened the new U.S. 97 Terrebonne Interchange with a ribbon cutting! Deschutes County’s $10 million local investment, in partnership with ODOT’s $29 million, turned a long-needed safety project into reality and ended dangerous left turns across the highway for Terrebonne and Crooked River Ranch residents. #OR05

Michael Summers says classroom time is limited. Before adding controversial topics, he wants schools focused on reading, math and other fundamentals — while keeping public education welcoming to families across different beliefs and backgrounds.

I appreciate KTVZ for giving me the opportunity to sit down and answer questions from Oregonians about my work, thoughts and race for the United States Senate. KTVZ offered multiple dates in September and October for a live debate with Senator Merkley, however as you will watch, Jeff Merkley feels he’s above having a live televised question and answer debate. Frankly, I don’t blame him as I wouldn’t want to debate me either, especially where he would have to defend his record, and how he has helped lead Oregon to last in almost every metric from affordability to education. It has been my privilege and honor to help residents for over twenty years of public service. From City Council, School Board, Chamber of Commerce President, County Commissioner, State Representative, to current State Senator; with so much more in between, I’ve always strived to put Oregonians, our residents, their communities and the businesses that support them first. So you may take exception, as many have, to Jeff Merkley’s arrogant response to declining to debate. Whenever Tina Kotek says she has “fought for funding” for this or that, that’s just political speak for adopting a new tax. I’m committed to listening to Oregonians who have told me again and again that they can’t afford to live here. As governor, I will lower taxes.
