When regulated markets move closer to 24/7, oracle quality rises, basis risk falls, and market makers can finally step in with confidence.
RWA perps stop being experimental and start becoming infrastructure that actually scales.
Extended Nasdaq trading hours is beneficial for on-chain equity perps.
Pricing an asset when its market is closed is the core problem for 24/7 platforms. Different patchwork solutions have emerged such as EMA-based estimates and internal pricing algorithms. These introduce basis risk and funding rate volatility that off-hours traders absorb.
Oracles have higher quality anchor prices the closer we get to 24/7 regulated markets. Pricing accuracy improves and the spread between onchain perp prices and fair value tightens.
Continuous regulated price flow also compresses arbitrage costs and narrows the basis between onchain and offchain markets. Market makers who were previously unwilling to participate without a reliable reference price can now be onboarded. This makes RWA perps more viable and appealing for traders, with better execution at scale.
