Yesterday, I had the opportunity to set out my vision for the United Nations and engage directly with Member States and civil society.
The discussion reinforced something I believe deeply: progress does not require our differences to disappear. It requires us to work through them.
That is the approach I would bring to the office of Secretary-General: relentless diplomacy, the stubborn optimism to believe agreement is possible, and a determination to turn that agreement into results for the people the UN exists to serve.
