What a f*cking hero.
Dad runs into a burning building with no hesitation to save his kids. Who needs Superman when your father is a superhero?

After forty years in front of the camera, I’ll be directing my first feature film, SO HELP ME GOD: a Civil War epic about a Union soldier named Albert Townsend, who should have received the Medal of Honor but didn’t.
Clerical error.
I learned of Albert through his descendants’ archival research. What I found was more than an injustice waiting to be corrected. It was a story of friendship and extraordinary courage: an unassuming young man becoming a soldier who held his ground, and his principles, under fire.
That’s a story worth telling on the largest possible scale. And we’re inviting the people who want to see it told to help bring it to the screen, as investors in the film through Republic.
We intend to do it justice: real cannons, one hundred horses, and the cast in period-accurate uniforms. We’ve brought on Mark Huffam, whose work includes Saving Private Ryan, Game of Thrones, and The Martian, to produce it. He knows what it takes to make an epic, and how much depends on the human story at its heart.
At the Medal of Honor Heritage Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I introduced the project alongside Civil War historian Brad Quinlin, members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and representatives of Civil War Roundtables. We’re also supporting the campaign for Albert’s posthumous Medal of Honor. His descendants are still fighting to see his courage properly recognized.
This picture is about friendship, love, and honor — and common people rising to accomplish extraordinary things. I want to give that story everything it deserves.
I hope you will lift the banner with us.

Becket is another must watch.
"If all the swords in England were pointed against my head, your threats would not move me."
Finally my college aged daughter is reading this book by @iamfujimura
Great book. Love the reframe.
Everyone should be following
@iamfujimura.
His conceptualization of Culture Care is a beautiful re-statement of Christian Stewardship. Like Eliot In The Rock
He'd probably hate me saying it's Scrutonian, but it reminds me a lot of his writing as well.
Replying to @BretVDB
Denis Donoghue’s “Words Alone” is one of eloquent books I recommend to under-stand T.S. Eliot. @FujimuraInst

This design was influenced by Psalm 46.
“God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into gthe heart of the sea,
3 though hits waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah”
Post 16: I REMEMBER 9/11 Series.
I’ve visited Auschwitz memorial in Oświęcim, the Holocaust museum in Jerusalem, Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia and Pearl Harbor Memorial in Honolulu …
But respectfully to all of those mentioned, when I finally visited the 9/11 Memorial (not for years after) it was the most solemn place in my life. I know my perspective is due to my experience, but there was a heaviness at the reflecting pools to navigate through.
The waterfall pools sit in the exact footprint of the original World Trade Center tower one and tower two.
Every single victim from the September 11, 2001 attacks and the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center bombing is inscribed on the memorial.
NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸 09/11/01
Another thing I am grateful for on the news of Wendell Berry's passing: @jake_meador has written several great essays both critiquing Berry but also in communion with him.

The intro everyone's talking about (rightfully, so)!
Hear from Brandon, a projectionist at Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX, as he gives his IMAX 70mm pre-film intro before The Odyssey 👏

I found this bit today between @RealMattFradd and Peter Kreeft profoundly moving (Kreeft’s wife of 60+ years recently died).
It’s no wonder marriage is a type of Christ and His Church. If we love His Catholic Church only if Her body is beautiful, we are not truly loving Her.
I reread the partial report the PCA committee did on Christian nationalism (thanks to people like @jamesrwoodtheo and others).
I found it careful and good work.
Maybe it was a great decision not to try to define CN rigorously at all. I found it a very helpful document.
