100% correct.
Developers want access to the steam monopoly they pay 30% of their revenue to Steam. But if another marketplace only wants say ~15%, the developer CANNOT pass that saving to the customer and still sell on steam.
So other marketplaces can't compete on price.
A former Epic Games dev says Steam has become almost impossible to compete with, even if someone builds a better launcher.
Kiaran Ritchie argues that developers aren’t really paying Valve’s 30% cut for its services, they’re paying for access to Steam’s huge player base.
He believes most Steam users simply have no reason to move to another store, even if it offers a better experience.
“They played capitalism so well they broke it.”
Ritchie says that Steam has become so dominant that developers can’t afford to ignore it, leaving them with no choice but to accept the 30% cut.

.@TeamYoutube I recently had a video removed because it supposedly didn't follow YouTube's child safety policy. I read through the entire policy and I do not believe that to be true. There was no minors depicted or talked about in the video. The video was also not targeting young audiences. I believe taking down my video was a mistake.
