RESOLVED. If I believe that God has spoken with clarity and finality in his word, I should act like it in my doctrine and in my practice. In short, I should reflect my confidence in the God who has spoken in every area of my life.

Of course we should want the family together. But I fail to see why we should act as though a great injustice is done if he can’t live/work in America. Canada has a right to say who lives works there, that’s not injustice Why are we treating this like an injustice?
Please join me in praying that @SlowToWrite and his family will be reunited soon, that the immigration issues will be quickly resolved, and he and his family will be able to return to the US with full legal status.

I’m not trying to be unfeeling or hard hearted here, but what exactly am I supposed to be praying for in this situation? Was the law followed, or not? I still can’t get a definitive answer. And that matters in which outcome I’m supposed to be praying for 🤷
Continue to pray for this lovely family!

Just sub out “European” for “Jew” and then run this through the filter of the prophets and see how that works. God will judge wickedness. Do not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD. Jeremiah 7:4

This is a very interesting question. One metric would be an increase in church attendance/membership, as opposed to the religious but detached that we see with many of the younger generations. I am legitimately hoping this changes from the typical millennial attitudes
What metrics would you use to determine if a heart-level shift is happening toward Christianity among gen Z men and the general population?

Sunday I’m starting the book of Habakkuk. Probably my biggest conundrum is, how do you pronounce it?!? Is it, Ha-ba-kuk. Or Hab-uh-kuk. Or huh-BAK-uh. Or am I just cooked? 🤣🤣

This is just, painful on so many levels. One has simply to read the prophets to see that, according to the Lord, nations are indeed moral entities, and do in fact have an obligation to acknowledge and obey God. If you need a place to start, perhaps the short book of Zephaniah.

Burning Straw men in effigy is a favorite pastime for many on here. But no, this is nothing but a silly caricature. I expect better from our Presbyterian brethren.
Replying to @wretchedmarine
And what else is in that Great Commission passage? Train and disciple. Hard for baptists to do that since they treat their children as pagans.

I read this as: while being hunted and persecuted by dragons!?! My brain was trying to figure out why I’d never read that in any church history books! 🤣🤣
Fun fact: In the 1680s, Scottish historians that the Covenanters witnessed various some forms of supernatural apparitions while being hunted and persecuted by dragoons throughout the Scottish isles and mainland. Presbyterian Fatima, when?

Another one that fits this “same dish but worlds apart” thing is Paella. It’s crazy how everyone thinks (in America anyway) it’s like $200 dollars of seafood, when it’s traditionally rabbit, snails, whatever you have, just humble peasant food Probably a bunch more we could name
Made gumbo tonight. In my experience there’s often two very different versions of a dish, bougie or backwoods. This is definitely the latter. Homemade Tasso and smoked turkey necks. I’m from as far from the bayou as one can be, but I like to think I’d fit in down there.

Exactly
I've been listening to some dispensational podcasts as of late, and I keep bumping up against a problem. 🚦 According to a lot of dispensationalists, an interpreter holds to dispensationalism or "replacement theology." I'm a covenant theologian but I don't hold to replacement theology. The church doesn't replace Israel. The church is the CONTINUATION of true Israel in Christ. NT believers are joined to OT believers as the covenant community. That's not replacement.

I have a certain sympathy for what this is trying to push back against. There is a large segment of evangelicalism that commit hyper red-letterism, and in practice deny the Trinity Unfortunately, this post makes the same basic error.
The Bible isn’t about Jesus. It’s certainly not about you. Jesus is not the main character in the story of the Bible. God the Father is. He is the one with the problem. Jesus is the solution to the problem. The problem is man.

Last night my daughter discovered a northern flicker that the cats injured, but didn’t kill. She immediately saw a rescue project, so it’s now in a rabbit cage and we’re picking up supplies at the feed store. My friend flicker.

It is remarkable to so how faith triumphs (or non faith fails) in a scene involving all the intrigue of international politics The faith of the kings of Judah in the covenant promises determines the course of nations more than the strength of the mightiest monarchs O P Robertson

This entire episode has been very revealing. One wonders, would this be the response if it was a, Black man, citizen? White man, not a citizen?

I suppose I’m the same sort of “moderate” I don’t have a problem with a nation deciding who can go there, or stay there. But it’s also very possible to believe you’ve done everything correctly, yet there be a clerical error outside your control. Foaming at the mouth for sure.
Two thoughts because I’m a moderate: Deportation is not a sin against a fellow Christian. I find it interesting how many “I hate bureaucracy” bros are foaming at the mouth declaring that even to miss a deadline or make a paperwork mistake is a henious sin that God hates.
