If this is real it says all there is to say

This is how Caolan actually engages with journalists behind the scenes, when he believes nobody will see it. This is because Joseph disagreed with a statement made around Caolan saying media is "broken" and not criticising politicians enough.

This will be my last post on the topic.
There are many people who have built careers around the war in Ukraine - journalists, OSINT analysts, military commentators, humanitarian workers, soldiers, and others. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. Most do invaluable work, often at considerable personal risk, and are greatly appreciated in Ukraine and beyond.
But we should also acknowledge that an entire ecosystem of professional opportunities, commercial interests, and personal brands has emerged around this war. And unfortunately, some have engaged in questionable practices, from exploiting Ukrainian military innovations for commercial gain to repackaging the original reporting and research of Ukrainian journalists without proper attribution.
Western commentators naturally enjoy certain advantages with Western audiences: native language fluency, cultural familiarity, established networks, and greater visibility. Consequently, they can become significantly more popular than the Ukrainian journalists whose original work they amplify.
That is not inherently bad nor unfair. But popularity comes with a certain level of responsibility, not immunity from criticism.
Caolan has undoubtedly done valuable work documenting Ukraine's struggle, and that has been recognised even by the Ukrainian government. But it doesn't exempt him from the same professional standards we should expect of everyone else.
The current dispute with @KyivIndependent, alongside previous questions raised about attribution concerning the Irish refinery investigation (nitter.cf/ichbinilya/status/2115…) and the photograph of a farmer killed in Kherson (nitter.cf/TomaTomTommy/status/21…), warrants scrutiny.
Everyone makes mistakes, yes. But when similar concerns arise repeatedly, it becomes reasonable to question whether they reflect a broader pattern. And while private resolution is preferable, public accountability is sometimes justified when those channels prove ineffective (as demonstrated here: nitter.cf/brycewilsonAU/status/2…)
People (talking to you NAFO) should also resist the temptation to dismiss legitimate criticism in the name of supporting a common cause. Solidarity with Ukraine should include respecting their work, professional contributions, and livelihoods. Because remember - we can always go back to our safe and prosperous countries, but the Ukrainians will be there to pay the ultimate price for this war. A war, which I'd like to kindly remind everyone, is being fought not just for the security and future of Ukraine, but for ALL of Europe.
Have principles and adhere to ethical practices. If you don't, you forfeit the right to cry about it when being publicly called out.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I’ve seen Caolan Robertson’s response, where he acknowledges lifting our video. He blames it on his editor but ultimately takes responsibility.
It’s always good to see people own their mistakes, it makes this space better for everyone. I appreciate it and accept his apology.
The five seconds of video is easy to dismiss, but five seconds of an animated map takes hours of work — research from a journalist and manual work from a videographer and a graphic designer. Our video team is small but we do our best to make sure our video reporting is well researched and properly sourced.
Caolan @CaolanReports says he wants to learn from this and improve his practices. I think that’s the right call, especially since other journalists have spoken out about past cases where Caolan used their work without credit. Hopefully, this will be the push to review those practices. It would help to look into the video’s origin before launching a public attack, too.
As for further steps.
Caolan says he emailed us to resolve it. We have checked our inboxes, including organization’s and my own, and found no messages from him. He is very welcome to reach me or the team directly. A private conversation is always more effective.
On the copyright claim. Yesterday, Caolan filed an appeal to our claim with Youtube, which automatically blocks our right to retract the claim while the appeal is being considered.
That said, we decided we will not contest his appeal or take legal action about the copyright infringement. If we don’t participate, YouTube will likely remove the strike from his channel. We made this decision because Caolan acknowledged his mistake and pledged to improve.
I hope this ends it and we can all move on and focus on our actual work: bringing truthful reporting from Ukraine to the world.

I hope for universal and divine justice for you because of this.

💔💔A father screams in agony beside the lifeless body of his daughter.
This is Chernihiv, Ukraine, where a russian attack killed two 15-year-old girls.
No parent should ever have to experience this horror💔
So the latest «foreigners in Ukraine» drama seem to be amongst freelancing media outlets. I don’t know much about neither this dude nor Kyiv Independent, but I’m seeing a lot more on my feed about the dude being a grifter than the opponent party involved.
All I have to say is this: in my opinion - most people who’s gained traction online in or about Ukraine are grifters, and most people I know in real life who are celebrities below the A-list level are self centered assholes.
There’s a reason why I make sure the majority of my support and focus is directed towards Ukrainian orgs/outlets/etc. If they’re grifting, at least they’re grifting on their own war, land, people vs foreigners grifting off of them. And whatever funds they raise goes towards something in Ukraine no matter what that may be.
The minority is rock solid.

Bro, you talked to my friend about his personal research that took him THOUSANDS of hours to do, you published the results as your own, and then when he talked to you again you pretended you had never heard of him or spoken to him before. Don’t start this shit. We have receipts if this is the path you want to take. Grow up and drop this shit or we can start something you will not be able to win.

Venäjän hyökkäyssota Ukrainassa on saatava päätökseen.
Kävimme keskustelun maidemme johtajina, emme Euroopan edustajina.

A temporary ceasefire was established in the area of the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky (Kherson region). It began at 3:00 a.m. (4:00 a.m. Moscow time).
According to estimates by the Ukrainian government, between two and six thousand civilians are trapped there under blockade and are suffering from hunger.
Russia's Ministry of Defense stated that in connection with preparations for a "humanitarian operation" in the Oleshky area, it had ceased fire on the Kherson direction and introduced a "silence regime."
The Ukrainian command had previously confirmed the agreement on a temporary ceasefire.
"The silence regime is being established exclusively for the humanitarian operation: delivery of aid to residents currently in the city and preparation for the free movement of the civilian population from Oleshky," the General Staff said in a statement.
"We urge everyone during this period to be especially cautious regarding the information you receive and share... Do not trust unverified reports, and do not spread rumors about the routes, time, and location of the movement of people and humanitarian columns," it noted.
The frontline city has been cut off from food and medicine supplies for many months.
Earlier, the BBC spoke with residents of Russian-occupied Oleshky who described how they are suffering from malnutrition - including boiling soup from weeds - and how dangerous it is to evacuate the city due to mined roads.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, who negotiated with Melania Trump on the Ukrainian side, stated that the operation to rescue people in Oleshky is extremely difficult to implement.
"As part of our agreement, first – a silence regime will be ensured. Second – humanitarian cargo will be delivered to Oleshky. Third – free movement of the civilian population out of Oleshky will be ensured," he said in a video message on Telegram.
Kherson is controlled by Ukraine, while Oleshky was occupied by Russian forces back in 2022. In 2023, most of the city was flooded due to the Russian army's blowing up of the Kakhovka Reservoir dam.

The White House:
❗️First Lady Melania Trump successfully secured a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, localized to the city of Oleshky.
Both nations agreed to temporarily stop all military action in Oleshky to allow for humanitarian aid to enter and to prepare a civilian evacuation through a designated safe passageway.
The localized ceasefire will begin on October 29, 2026.
“The situation in Oleshky is dire. Oleshky is a front-line war city on the brink of disaster. Oleshky’s remaining population is comprised primarily of elderly residents who urgently need medical attention, medicine, food, and clean water,” said First Lady Melania Trump. “The people of Oleshky have limited electricity, live amid mined roads, and endure regular military attacks. It was abundantly clear that without my intervention, the possibility to bring humanitarian aid into the city and to evacuate the elderly would be impossible.”

Just landed in Helsinki.
The Nordics are our closest allies, and our destinies are bound together, just as they were a thousand years ago. Thank you, Finland, and thank you to all our Nordic friends for everything you already do for Ukraine.
Today, I will meet with Finland’s high-level officials, my Finnish colleague @elinavaltonen, and colleagues from Norway and Denmark.
We will also have a separate trilateral format with the foreign ministers of Finland and Norway to discuss peace efforts and coordinate the decisions our leaders agreed in Oslo.
Tomorrow, I will address the Nordic Council session for the first time.
The priorities of our talks are set by Russia's daily terror. They are air defense to protect our skies this winter, equipment for our energy sector and shelters, where Finland leads the relevant coalition, and joint weapons production for our soldiers.
Norway 🇳🇴 and Finland 🇫🇮 are the new front figures it seems 😎
Spoke with President of Finland @alexstubb and Prime Minister of Norway @jonasgahrstore following their call today with the Russian leader and as a continuation of our discussions in Oslo with representatives of America, Europe, and NATO. I am grateful for the detailed briefing and for their active support for our diplomacy and the peace efforts we are pursuing together with all our partners.
Alex and Jonas made it clear to the Russian leader that real de-escalatory steps are needed regarding our energy and infrastructure. We discussed preparations for the trilateral meeting planned for November at the team level – Ukrainian, American, and Russian. Finland and Norway, as countries that border Russia, have a particular interest in sound and reliable security arrangements. We also discussed various formats for our engagement with partners in Europe that could be useful in further supporting diplomacy, our defense, and our shared security.
There must be peace, de-escalation is needed, and Russia must stop dragging out the war. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine!
Someone said they haven’t seen anything of mine in 6 months.
Friends,
My account here, just like other Ukrainian accounts recently, is suffering from severe shadowbanning/pessimization. There has been a sharp drop in reach, as the platform's algorithms quietly remove it from search and recommendations.
My Threads account, which has 25,000 followers, currently gets more reach than my account here on X.
I will remain here and I deeply value our community. But just in case, I want to remind you that I have other platforms: Threads, Bluesky, and Telegram.

I feel the same about Russians as I do about Taliban, ISIS and other shithole extremists. Their ideology, culture and general sense suck. Wipe them out.
INI BUKAN CALL OF DUTY. NGGAK ADA TOMBOL RESPAWN BUAT ORANG YANG SUDAH MATI. 💔
