Disability and Jesus

#MorningPrayer Captivate our hearts Lord Jesus, with your grace; hold our focus on your way, your gospel, your kingdom, on the new life you offer. Keep us from fixing our eyes on what we think is best for ourselves, our egos; turn our attention to your call, your hope, your love.

#MorningPrayer Lord Jesus, keep us from drifting into preoccupation with arguments and debates over priorities of our own choosing, at the expense of our following your call to love. May we show your love to all in our care for neighbours, as we live out the hope of your kingdom.

#MorningPrayer Give us grace, Lord Jesus, to honour those who have shared with us your gospel and led us to experience and know your love for us and all the world; to honour them by following your way, and sharing with others the legacy of faith and hope we have inherited in you.

#MorningPrayer Lord Jesus, remind us always that we are disciples because you call us before we choose you; you invite us to your way before we turn to you. May we follow the path you set before us, in faith, hope and love, bearing the blessings of your gospel and kingdom to all.

#MorningPrayer Lord Jesus, hold our attention, and keep our focus on you and on your way; let us not be swayed by empty philosophies, by the lure of possessions, by the love of power, or position, or pride. Give us a proper humility and confidence in your love, for we are yours.

#MorningPrayer Keep our attention on the blessings of your way and will, Lord Jesus, and away from the temptation to seek our contentment in the pursuit of power, in amassing material riches, or in the desire to prevail in dissension and debate, at the cost of our living in love.

#MorningPrayer Lord Jesus, draw our attention to the opportunities you place before us to do what is good, what blesses others, whenever we are able and wherever we are. May we think less about how others perceive us, and more about how our actions may show how you perceive them.

#MorningPrayer God of wisdom, keep us open to the guidance of your Holy Spirit; give us the gift of discernment, that we may be led by your will and walk in your way. Let us honour what is of you, leaving aside what diverts us from living in your love, your grace, and your peace.

#MorningPrayer Fill us, Lord Jesus, with love and regard for one another as we journey together in the way of your kingdom. May our life as your people show the care and compassion of your heart to those in need and strengthen community as we work together with you to share hope.

#MorningPrayer May we receive, Lord Jesus, with gratitude and grace, the blessings you offer us in the fruits of the earth, the fruits of community, the fruit of your Spirit as you lead and guide us in your way and in your love; that our living and loving may reveal your kingdom.

#MorningPrayer Holy Trinity, God of love, relationship and community are at the heart of your being and at the heart of your call to us as your disciples. Fill us with a love for one another which echoes the love you are, and brings your grace to bear on our life together in you.

#MorningPrayer Encourage us, Lord Jesus, to be a people of prayer; enthuse our hearts and inspire our souls to be open to your Spirit; to wait upon and to listen for your wisdom, your guidance, your call and your challenge, your consolation and care, your inspiration and insight.

#MorningPrayer Keep us conscious, Lord Jesus, of our need for your grace and mercy, for your forgiveness of the many ways we fail to be Christlike in our words, actions, thoughts and attitudes; and keep us from our propensity to judge our fellow disciples as if we know your mind.

#MorningPrayer Excite us, Lord Jesus, with the message of your gospel, to the good news of your love, to a vision of the kingdom. May the Spirit, like a dove, rest upon us, be within us, that your peace may be our prize, as we share the story of your grace and open people’s eyes.

#MorningPrayer Holy Trinity, Creator God, you form each of us; unique individuals yet made in your image and seeking the community which is at the heart of your own being. Help us to find our voices and work on the harmony which allows us, together, to sing the song of your love.

#MorningPrayer Inspire us, Lord Jesus, to rejoice in you; to find our value not in the background we have inherited, not in the position or wealth that we make for ourselves, but in the identity we have in your love for us and your invitation to be your people, and walk your way.

#MorningPrayer Hold our focus, Lord Jesus; fix our hearts on your love, that we may live in the hope that you offer and embody. Keep us from pursuing the building of our own empires; let our ambition be for your kingdom, and for the life you offer in the joy of your resurrection.

#MorningPrayer Lord Jesus, may your presence be with us and in us to strengthen us in your grace, to bind us in the deep harmony of your kingdom and your will, to foster in us a deep wisdom and undefended humility that listens to your call and chooses your way of fulfilling love.
