We appreciate your advocacy! Thank you for attending our breakfast with Senator @CPetitclerc yesterday. #EndDisabilityPoverty
A lovely start to the morning at the Senate with familiar faces and organizations doing so much in their communities. Thank you to Senator Chantal Petitclerc for bringing us together. Rabia and Michelle, always wonderful to see you both. I’m grateful for the heart and determination you bring to Disability Without Poverty. A secure home, opportunities to work, and an income people can count on give people more freedom to live on their own terms. That’s what we’re working towards together. We’ve made progress, and I’m glad to keep building on it alongside you.

Canadians with disabilities are 50% more likely to experience poverty and twice as likely to face food insecurity, yet many can't access the benefits meant to support them. Daily Bread is among 150+ orgs calling for reform: dailybread.ca/blog/more-than… #DisabilityBenefitsAccess

Replying to @LiseVaugeois
@LiseVaugeois does an excellent job of explaining how dealing with the @WSIB is living a life of purgatory! She also mentions how fair #Bill86 was for workers AND employers, but @fordnation dismissed it like a passing thought! Sadly injured workers, as voters and people with rights, were DENIED our right to officially speak before the #Bill105 committee. Thankfully organizations like @IAVGO @justice4worker IWC and others let workers speak in their place! Alicia an injured worker spoke about the hell she went through dealing with the @WSIB The @WSIB is only there to help employers! PLEASE CALL YOUR MPP and tell them to TELL @fordnation to 86 #Bill105 and bring back #Bill86 the "Meredith Act"!

And while we're at it, make housing accessible! No person with disability should be forced to resorting to MAiD because they aren't able to have an accessible and affordable place to live. #IDEP #EndPoverty #CdnPoli #EnoughforAll #InternationalDayfortheEradicationofPoverty
