ALT Headshot of EMPath CEO Kim Janey. Short statement says: In response to the U.S. Census 2023 poverty data released today: "The latest U.S. Census data reports an increase in the national Supplemental Poverty Measure for the second year in a row. The 13.7% of all children, particularly the 20.3% of Black children and 22% of Hispanic children, who continue to live in poverty are bearing the greatest burden of our failure. Poverty is a policy choice. Our children deserve better. The time to act is now."

ALT Graphic with the following message: Today, as we celebrate Juneteenth, we also reflect on what it means to realize the promise of true freedom for Black Americans. As we know firsthand from our work with families at EMPath, absolute freedom cannot be achieved without financial freedom. While there has been progress, there’s a long road ahead to undo discriminatory policies that were designed to trap Black communities in the cycle of poverty and trauma. EMPath will continue to fight for bold action that dismantles the longstanding barriers that have shut out Black communities from building generational wealth and brings us closer to a world of racial economic equality. Together, we can work towards lasting change. Happy Juneteenth! Wishing you peace, love and joy. In solidarity, Kim Janey, President & CEO of EMPath
