Nothing junior about leading an arrest team.
Nothing junior about looking after the entire hospital overnight.
Nothing junior about deliviring life-saving treatment.
This is a welcome change, part of the cultural shift towards greater respect towards the profession. – at Hammersmith, London
🚨We have a new title: BMA Residents 🚨
A long time coming, and after much hard work, junior doctors will now be called Resident Doctors.
This new title better reflects their huge range of skills and responsibilities.

We don’t begrudge our hard working NHS colleagues their London Weighting allowance.
But London is no cheaper for doctors.
Doctors deserve parity to mitigate the higher cost of living and working in the capital.

Cutting doctors’ pay won’t keep them in the NHS.
The DDRB must show its independence and recommend what patients and the NHS need, not what the Government is prepared to pay.

We must end hyper-rotational training.
It is not good for doctors.
It is not good for patients.
It is not good for the NHS.
Today pilot programmes have started to move away from this absurd system.
We must go further so tell us how rotations can change specifically for you. – at Kensington, London
Hyper-rotation training has gone on for far too long. Being moved from trust to trust is disruptive to our work and personal lives. These pilots that start today is just the beginning. We're pushing for real change, but we need to hear from you.
Tell us how rotations work in your region, and what you'd like to see happen next👉 bma.doctor/4w8A0oe

This must be the beginning of the end for hyper-rotational training.
The arguments for rotations are always presented without the *real* cost of them:
- pay errors
- rota delays
- being flung to a random hospital 2 hours away
- opening the door to substitution by more permanent workforces
- permanently being a transient member of the team
We’re getting on and making progress for resident doctors - to hopefully see these rolled out far and wide after the pilot.
