Tech had a tough October, but is a testimonial to market resilience that the S&P 500 was down less than 1% for the month. The equity risk premium for the index rose to 3.79%, and with the 10-year rate dropping to 4.94%, the expected return for US stocks stands at 8.73% at the start of November. Damodaran.com

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon blasts claims that Iran posed no threat and argues the West should have confronted its leadership years ago: “They’ve been raping, killing, and murdering for 47 years.” 🇺🇸 Asked how he would resolve the escalating conflict in the Middle East, Dimon responded: “I don’t know. I do not know. I hear a lot of politicians say there was no imminent threat from Iran. That immediately gets my back up, because a threat is a threat. They’ve been raping, killing, and murdering for 47 years. Why? The Western world allowed proxy wars. I mean, we learned a lesson that we should have gone years ago at the head of the state. We should have killed the head of state. And so now we have more risk and maybe more opportunity, because people want peace in the Middle East. It’s a terrible situation. I don’t know the outcome. I hope there’s a Plan B or a Plan C. I want us to prevail in a way that makes sense. I don’t know what the right thing to do was, but I’m not going to say we should have done nothing. Asked whether the Strait of Hormuz needs to reopen at almost any cost, Dimon continued: “I think it will eventually be reopened. I don’t know. The military can plan for things like this for 40 years. They have plans. I don’t know what the plans are, and I hope it works. I just don’t know.”

The other supercompute projects are unable to reach their goals, but SpaceX is already achieving ours
SpaceXAI’s Colossus 2 in Memphis is the world’s most powerful AI data center. Roughly 1.11 million H100 equivalents, ahead of OpenAI’s Stargate and the big tech campuses. By mid 2027, Colossus is expected to widen the gap with more Blackwell clusters coming online.

Marc Andreessen revealed how Harvard Business School was built on a broken 1941 theory, and how it's now collapsing... Andreessen co-founded Netscape in 1994 and a16z in 2009. He has sat on Meta's board since 2008. He has spent 30 years backing founders and watching managerial CEOs lose to them. The pattern traces back to one book: James Burnham's The Machiavellians (1941). Burnham argued every great company had been founder-run. Henry Ford ran Ford. Bob Noyce ran Intel. Today, Elon Musk runs Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink. Then, he said, something broke. Between the 1880s and the 1920s, a new philosophy replaced the founder. It was called managerialism. The professional manager would now hold a portable skill, usable across any business. The consequences were: - Harvard Business School - Stanford Business School - Management as a universal skill - The 1970s conglomerate "That assumes the managers are going to do a good job," Andreessen says. For 30 years, they haven't. Managers can run something static, he says. Soup is soup. A bank is a bank. A car is a car. But when the industry changes, the manager freezes. Look at SpaceX. "Imagine being a professionally trained manager, trained at a top management school, working for a rocket launch company, competing with SpaceX." Then Elon's rockets started landing on their butt. "Your management skills ... what good are they at that point?" Andreessen's conclusion: "You're much more likely to build something important in the 21st century if you start with the founder and train them on management."

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warns New York is already losing jobs to Texas because of high taxes and business policies: “We had 12,000 employees in Texas. Now it’s 33,000. People are voting with their feet.” 🇺🇸 “It’s already happening. JPMorgan, when I got there, had 35,000 employees in New York City, and now it’s 26,000. We had 12,000 in Texas, and now it’s 33,000. That’s because of individual taxes, corporate taxes, state taxes, but also the schools. The schools in Dallas have become very, very good. Life in Dallas is good. When I grew up in New York City, in the 1970s, 120 of the Fortune 500 companies were in New York City. In about 10 years, a lot of them left or failed, mostly because of things like taxes and crime. Those were big names like GE, IBM, and American Airlines. You think somehow the wealthy just don’t want to pay their fair share of taxes? That’s not the point. There are a lot of studies showing what happens when taxes go up, and obviously you shouldn’t raise taxes without thinking about the consequences. A lot of those people are already paying taxes. Why do you want them to leave? How does that help the lower-paid person in New York?” Jamie is directly right here. Having administrations who are anti-big business only leads to last taxable revenue and burden on the middle class. There’s been countless studies showing the damaging effects of forcing corporations out in the residual issues that come with it.

.@HaleyforMI did something most politicians fail to do on a regular basis: she put our county over her party. Against massive political pressure she endorsed @MikeRogersForMI for Senate. Well done Haley. I tip my hat to you.

WARREN BUFFETT ONCE SAID NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THE STOCK MARKET WILL DO NEXT "Nobody knows what the market is going to do tomorrow, next week, next month. But they spend all their time talking about it because it's easy to talk about, but it has no value." Instead, he said the opportunities come from other people's mistakes. "What gives you opportunities is other people doing dumb things." He said the world is overwhelmingly short-term focused, and that's "made to order for anybody that's trying to think about what you do that should work over 5 or 10 or 20 years." He also said a great buying opportunity will come again. "It could be next week, it could be 5 years off, but it won't be 50 years off. We will be bombarded with offerings that we'll be glad we have the cash for." "I would love to be born today and go out with not too much money and hopefully turn it into a lot of money."

He who shapes power, data centers, chips and models into an economically feasible endpoint, disproportionately shapes AI/SI right now. Why? Power is THE binding constraint in AI/SI. Few really have it. Data centers don’t work without power. This is not about promises of power tomorrow. Or forecasted power in 2028. Power TODAY. Chips can’t operate profitably unless installed in a functional data center. If you can install chips, it’s because you’ve solved the power problem. Models aren’t economically viable unless run on cost effective infrastructure which requires a functional data center with low input costs and reliable management. This can’t happen without power. AI/SI ROI doesn’t pencil unless models generate profitable outputs which necessarily needs functional data centers as the critical input. Again, power. Ergo, he who can shape data centers, chips and models together into a tightly coordinated stack is someone who has solved power. Solving power allows you to disproportionately shape AI/SI right now.

Peter Lynch talking about dealing with pullbacks in the stock market
THE NASDAQ 100 BRIEFLY FELL INTO A CORRECTION TODAY BEFORE BOUNCING BACK Peter Lynch once explained why moves like this shouldn't scare long-term investors "The market's had 50 declines of 10% or more. So 50 declines in 93 years, about once every 2 years the market falls 10%. We call that a correction." He said 15 of those declines were 25% or more, about one bear market every 6 years. "You need to know the market's going to go down sometime. If you're not ready for that, you shouldn't own stocks. And it's good when it happens." "If you like a stock at 14 and it goes to 6, that's great. 14 to 22 is terrific. 6 to 22 is exceptional." He also said you don't have to rush. Investors who waited 10 years after Walmart $WMT went public in 1970 still made more than 30 times their money, by his math.

Congrats to the @SpaceX team on over 700 Falcon 9 flights!
SpaceX has now crossed 700 Falcon 9 launches 700 missions flown by a single rocket family, at a scale and pace that have completely transformed modern spaceflight Starlink 15-16 marked the 700th mission on October 27, with Starlink 15-18 following as the 701st on October 31 Since its first flight in 2010, Falcon 9 has revolutionized space transportation through reusable rocket technology What once took years now happens every few days SpaceX has turned launching and landing rockets into routine spaceflight And that's an absolutely extraordinary engineering achievement

Our second product is called Blindsight and it will, as the name suggests, enable even those who are completely blind or have never seen to see. It is ready from an engineering standpoint. Just waiting on regulatory approval.
Neuralink’s first product is called Telepathy. It enables high-speed communication with computers or humans simply by thinking. Output bandwidth will vastly exceed the fastest human speech or typing in a few years. Read that sentence again.
