Before Lepanto was a victory, it was an intention people carried into prayer. Pope St. Pius V called Christians to pray the Rosary as the Holy League prepared for battle. People far from the fighting could still intercede. After the victory, the Church gave thanks for Mary’s protection, a gratitude preserved in the feast we know as Our Lady of the Rosary. That history is not a promise that prayer will make every crisis end the way we ask. It is a reminder that we can bring even our greatest fears to God. You may have an intention you have carried for years. Someone you cannot persuade. A situation you cannot resolve. Bring it to your next decade. Meditate on Christ’s life with Mary, and ask for the grace to trust Him with yours.
