The ultimate stage of self-delusion.
Khalil Mack off the table? 👀
The 0-6 Chargers have SHUT DOWN trade calls on their veterans for now, per @AlbertBreer
They still believe they can turn it around
Any of them would be excellent additions.
I really love Sweat—he’d be my first choice—but I’m not sure how happy AZ would be to make an in-division trade.
TB still believes they have a shot, so I’m not convinced they free up Diaby.
I’ve been advocating for Will McDonald since last year. And the Jets could be a very willing trade partner. A low 3rd might be enough to get him. He’d be greased gears across from Bosa.
Jeffery Simmons is an excellent DT. One of the very best in the NFL.
Does he make the Bears a better team? Absolutely.
Does he immediately elevate the Bears above the 49ers and Seahawks? No. That’s not how NFL teams or rosters work.
A DT is one component of a defensive line, and a defensive line is one component of the roster. There are too many aspects to winning or losing football games, and thinking one player assures superiority is a gross mistake in judgment.
Simmons moves the needle, just as Buckner does in SF, and Nelson does in SEA. But none of those trades brings an elevation by default.
You still need to play the games, and one player doesn’t change that process.
Approaching the last 10 mins of the game, Bryce Young has 117 yards passing.
I’d like to thank him sincerely for continuing the seven week long trend of having QBs with a 250+ yard average turn into fairy princesses simply because I included them in my parlay.
I’d also like to thank Panthers HC Dave Canales for calling repeated three straight running plays while down 14 and the clock ticking steadily toward 0:00.
Mike’s commitment to staying as healthy as possible was never at any time a question. He’s the ultimate warrior.
It’s just that some things are beyond management, and that’s the place everyone fears it might go.

I don’t care about “big names.” I care about impact, and I think there are at least 2 if not 3 more deals coming. 49ers should move on Edge, WR, and potentially a solid backup CB between now and the deadline.
I get the “they should be back in a month or so” narrative, but a division lead can be eliminated in one month. And I don’t think the team should be risking their run on Deebo’s hamstring, Evans’ calf, or Stribling’s ankle.
Once the deadline passes you lose your ability to adjust with anything other than the midseason FA scrap heap.
Trade. Then trade. Then trade again. No excuses.
Matt Maiocco believes the 49ers are done trading for big name players. He does see them going after a Keion White type of player on defense
Maiocco also said he thinks they will not trade for a WR since Mike Evans, Demarcus Robinson, Deebo Samuel, and De'Zhaun Stribling are all due back from injuries within the next month or so

DT Grover Stewart was asked for his reaction following the DeForest Buckner trade.
DE Arden Key in the background answered: "FUCK!"
Grover Stewart: "That explains it right there."

It’s interesting to see the trade philosophy of the Bears vs. 49ers. Bears send two 1st round picks for a marquee defensive player, their obvious belief that his presence can elevate their defense from below average to great.
This has been the Rams’ trade philosophy as well. Both with Myles Garrett, and in past years. It paid off at one time with a SB. Not this time, at least so far.
The 49ers’ approach has been more metered and value heavy. It’s allowed them to bring in difference makers without turning over heavy draft capital.
It will be exciting to see what other moves SF has planned. Khalil Mack remains available, likely at less than DeForest Buckner cost. It’s hard to think the 49ers aren’t looking at him very seriously now.
Huge buy here by the Bears. They clearly see Simmons as the monolith defensive player who will turn that unit around for Chicago.
Blockbuster! The Titans are trading All-Pro DT Jeff Simmons to the Bears, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports.
By adding DeFo Buckner, the 49ers didn’t just add an excellent DT, they added a guy who often needs to be doubled teamed. The 49ers have a player who draws doubles, in Nick Bosa.
It’s a nightmare scenario for an offensive line—one the Rams had hoped to put forward with Garrett and Donald.
The 49ers are going to end up doing it first.

That’s a very, very good group. Add a Khalil Mack to that group, it’s lights out, kids.

Jesus Christ we about to get SMOKED 😭😭😭😭
The people who are claiming Brock Purdy is a “fraudulent MVP candidate” off of one loss are hopelessly lost in their own casual stupidity.
Purdy had no luxury of a true X receiver today (or even a WR2, 3, or 4). The result of that is no viable downfield passing game. SF had to rely on a game plan heavy with run plays and short throws. The RB and TE were the leading receivers for SF today. They had to put that plan up against the NFL’s 6th best run defense.
Compare that to what happened to Patrick Mahomes tonight. Similar offensive limitations: no legitimate downfield passing game, reliant upon the run and short throws, vs. the NFL’s 10th best run defense. Mahomes at least had a young, first round WR talent on the field, unlike Purdy.
Purdy went 27/40 for 288, 1 TD and 2 interceptions. 3 TD drives, 20 points. 75.8 passer rating.
Mahomes went 19/33 for 165, O TDs and 1 interception. No TD drives, 3 points. 58.3 passer rating.
Neither the 49ers nor the Chiefs lost today because of anything other than the fact they faced a team that played much better within an unfavorable matchup.
To conflate that to meaning neither Purdy (nor Mahomes by comparison) are of MVP caliber because they lost today is beyond moronic. It’s caveman-level lack of football understanding.
