The number of people injured in the Russian strike on a university campus and the surrounding area yesterday evening has risen to 12. Five of them are students and university staff. While emergency services were helping people and dealing with the aftermath of the first strike, the Russians used ballistic missiles again. In total, 16 ballistic missiles were launched overnight. More than 280 drones as well. Tragically, there have been casualties and hits in Kyiv, including on the South Bridge. A serious escalation in Russia’s operation against our logistics. There were also strikes on the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Chernihiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Kherson, and Chernivtsi regions. Almost everywhere, Russia’s targets were the energy sector, logistics, and ordinary urban infrastructure.
The artificial and prolonged delays in the delivery of interceptor packages for Patriot and NASAMS systems, which unfortunately have occurred recently, are directly helping Russia achieve the objectives of its terrorist campaign. Every such delay means another Russian strike on one facility or another. Unfortunately, strikes are taking place every day. Russia is constantly taking new steps toward escalation. Pressure on Russia and real support for Ukraine are needed to change the situation. I thank everyone who truly supports our efforts to protect lives and understands the importance of support packages arriving on time. We must bring peace closer and save lives. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Suspension of russian bobsleigh in two-man and four-man events extended 🔥
Today, the extraordinary congress of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) concluded. One of the agenda items was a proposal to lift a number of sanctions on Russian skeleton athletes and bobsledders.
After thorough discussion and our presentation of facts about the involvement of the Russian Bobsleigh Federation and Russian athletes in actively supporting the actions of their government, and in some cases even their affiliation with the Russian army, a fair decision was adopted by a convincing majority of votes. I am pleased to report that the sanctions on Russian bobsleigh and skeleton have been maintained.
In individual events, Russian athletes will be able to compete only in “neutral” status after undergoing verification for affiliation with Russian military structures, active support of the war, and compliance with other criteria.
In all team events, Russian athletes remain fully suspended ❌
Russian sport serves as a tool of Russian propaganda and therefore must remain excluded from international sport.
Ban Russia.

He was tortured so severely that for two weeks he could not even remember who he was. His comrades had to carry him and feed him with a spoon.
Yet, even before that—naked, blindfolded, and enduring blows from boots and rubber-soled shoes—he would smile. Deliberately.
It was this smile that deeply unsettled his torturers and thwarted their plans.
Pavlo Shatokhin, known by the call sign "Shakh," was a Marine. He defended Mariupol, providing cover for the Azov fighters, and eventually broke out of the Azovstal steel plant alongside his comrades.
Then came the "brutal" captivity—Olenivka, in the barracks. The food was served so hot it was impossible to eat; the water reeked of a swamp. Taking bread out of the mess hall was strictly forbidden.
One of the guards, nicknamed "Kirusha," tortured two Ukrainians to death.
Then came an even worse ordeal: captivity in Taganrog, at the Russian detention center in Kamishin. What they called "processing" was, in reality, a gauntlet of torture.
Blindfolded and with his hands bound, a prisoner would be shoved through a line of guards. Pavlo suffered a broken rib, and his internal organs were severely damaged.
Then, he was given five minutes to undress for a search—a process involving "slashing" and the tearing away of skin—followed by being forced to crawl through the mud while a stun gun was applied to his damp back.
Later, in a cell, eight guards demanded he sing the Russian national anthem. He refused.
For this, he was dragged out and beaten so viciously that he lost consciousness. This happened the very next day. For two weeks, Pavlo was in a vegetative state. His fellow prisoners fed him with a spoon and carried him in their arms to the medical center.
They tortured him systematically—using electric shock devices and plastic pipes with iron keys attached to the ends, striking his legs so severely that he required surgery.
They used a rubber mallet, striking him on the head with the handle—a grim joke among the prisoners: "We’ll end up looking like dragons."
In that place, a "banya" (bath) didn't mean washing; it meant a beating.
Yet, through it all, there was resistance. In their cell, turning away from the security cameras, the men would place their hands over their hearts and silently sing the Ukrainian national anthem.
Pavlo recalls: "They were furious because I smiled at them. Driven by adrenaline, I would start shouting and smiling. Sometimes, it even helped me endure the things I had to face afterward."
During more than three years of captivity, he received only one letter—from his sister. It contained just seven words, which he turned into a mantra, reading it every single day.
He says: "When they turned on the radio and we heard about the Kursk region, it gave us an incredible boost. It meant that Ukraine still exists, that Ukraine is in control and is striking back with a powerful blow."
When he was finally released, he weighed 54 kilograms—having lost nearly 80 kilograms during his imprisonment.
His sister didn't recognize him in the video; she only knew it was him by his gestures, his eyes, and a scar.
Pavlo underwent several surgeries and rehabilitation in Ukraine, Lithuania, and Latvia—and has since returned to duty.
He remains an officer in the maritime security forces. And keep smiling.

Russian skeleton and bobsleigh athlete has become part of the Russian army.
This is Kirill Gusev.
As recently as last season, he took part in all-Russian bobsleigh competitions.
Now he is a Russian serviceman. In one of the photos, he proudly shows a patch with the inscription “we destroying cities for money.” On his social media, he actively posts materials related to his affiliation with the terrorist army that is currently committing genocide against Ukrainians. It is this army that is responsible for the daily shelling of our cities and for the civilian casualties, including small children.
In a few days, an extraordinary congress of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) will take place, and at the initiative of the IBSF Executive Committee, the issue of returning Russian athletes to international competitions without restrictions will be considered.
They propose to remove the neutrality verification criteria, which included checks for affiliation with Russian military structures, support for the war, and other factors. This is being done deliberately so that Kirill and others like him, accomplices in Russia’s crimes, can freely participate in international competitions and use our sport to spread Russian propaganda, normalize the actions of their government, and strengthen Putin’s regime.
For us, it is obvious that the situation has not changed in any way since 2022, and Russian sport continues to be a powerful tool of the Russian propaganda machine.
Russian athletes must be suspended from international sport.
And it seems that the IBSF @IBSFsliding needs to be reminded of this.
Ban Russia.

The most important thing today is that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to the speeds we had before the restrictions. The speeds are now where they need to be. The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient. This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered “shaheds.”
I thank all Americans and all our partners who took this seriously and truly helped – members of Congress, senators, all the media, the State Department, and the President. Protecting lives matters.

#Lula wins in Brazil! 🇧🇷
A second crushing electoral blow to the conservative-authoritarian international: first, Vučić’s defeat in #Serbia, after years of close ties with Moscow; now the defeat of Flávio #Bolsonaro, whose political family is allied with Trump.
On Tuesday, Israel goes to the polls, where Netanyahu, another close ally of Trump, faces an electoral test that could deliver a third blow to this international political alliance.
From Belgrade to Brasília, the verdict lies with the people – and tells us that the forces of authoritarianism are losing ground.

She was born in Iran and built her life in Afghanistan a woman's rights activist with a voice that frightened the men around her.
So her ex-husband threw acid on her face.
In the hospital, after the surgeries, she sat with her head shaved doctors had taken skin from her scalp to rebuild her face. She was still bandaged, still bleeding, still healing.
But her son was not by her side. He was living with his father. And his father set the condition: if you want to talk to your son, you will do it on a video call so I can see what you've become.
She accepted. She needed to hear her child's voice.
On that call, her ex-husband looked at her destroyed face and smiled. He said: "Look at you. You've become like a monster. You'll never dare go out in public again people will be terrified when they see you. I dare you. I dare you to go out and talk about women's rights."
He thought he had broken her. He thought that face was the end of her.
He was wrong.
Every scar on her face became a sentence in her speech. They took her beauty so she took his fear and turned it into courage. Today she walks in public with her head high, and she speaks about women's rights louder than ever.
He wanted to bury her in shame. Instead, he gave the world a witness.
That is why I invited her to our Freedom gala in Poland to dedicate to her the Medal of Freedom I received. Because she is the symbol of resilience itself: the symbol of every woman whose face was burned but whose voice could not be silenced.
Thank you, Poland for opening your doors, for giving visas to my delegation of women from Iran, Afghanistan, and Cameroon.
We are about to start a global women's rights movement and we will go together, all of us, to the German Parliament very soon.
This time, I invited 10 women. In Berlin, we will invite more dissidents.

Ukrainian Nobel laureate Matviichuk: Russian occupiers abducted a woman for her pro-Ukrainian views. They tortured her and gang-raped her multiple times.
Then they took her to Russia and fabricated criminal charges against her.
I met her five-year-old daughter. She hugged me, started crying and begged: "Please return my mom."
I'm a human rights lawyer, but I have no legal tools to force Russia to return her mother. I felt broken.
I hugged her and promised we'd fight for her mother until she returned home.

Why is it important to close down Moscow airports?
Because it has a huge impact on Russian economy and logistics.
The Moscow Aviation Hub is essentially a bottleneck for Russian logistics. Whenever its work is disrupted, it creates a cascading effect on the Russian logistics as a whole.
Moscow is the central hub for the Russian domestic and international air traffic. When the Moscow airports (Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky airports) close down, this disrupts connectivity across all of Russia, and matters are further complicated by the fact that Russia has 11 time zones. Russian aviation is heavily centralized, and due to the cize of the country, aviation is the only viable transportation means for long-distance travel in Russia, cargo transportation included.
When flights are delayed and/or canceled, the ripple effect is felt all across Russia. The Russian state is forced to install air defense systems in the area, taking them from the front lines and military infrastructure inside Russia. Russian airlines bear additional costs of using more jet fuel, added handling fees at alternate destinations and paying compensations to passengers for the delays.
Flights that cannot arrive in Moscow airports are diverted to other airports which creates a strain on the ground infrastructure and fuel resources of those alternative airports.
Russian airlines and planes already work under severe Western sanctions that complicate obtaining spare parts and performing maintenance. There have been reports that about 20% of the Russian airfleet failed to return to active service due to needing maintenance. For large airlines, these figures can reach up to 30%. This also means that the remaining 70/80% of the planes are working more which leads to more vulnerability.
In addition to all the direct and indirect costs of closing down the Russian airports, there is also a moral impact. The Kremlin largely prefers to "insulate" large cities (starting with Moscow and St Petersburg) from the war, creating the illusion of normalcy and "business as usual." When passengers cannot leave on their flights for hours and businesses suffer from logistics disruptions, it serves as a loud reminder about the war to those Russian priviliged enough to ignore it otherwise.
