Welcomed the new European Union Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Andreas Peschke to the National Treasury, together with the visiting Director General of the European Investment Bank (EIB Global), Mr. Andrew McDowell. The European Union together with the EIB continues to support Kenya’s infrastructure development, including the upgrading of the Kwa Jomvu - Mariakani Road along the Northern Corridor at a cost of approximately KShs 17.5 billion. Other key investments include the Mwache Multipurpose Dam, the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project, and the Last Mile Connectivity Programme which is expanding electricity access to households across the country. Kenya is also making deliberate efforts to attract more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), strengthen investor confidence and mobilise private capital for infrastructure development. @EUinKenya @EUAmbKenya @EIB

Met with my neighbours at my farm in Chepsigot, Soy North, Elgeyo Marakwet County. The Kerio Valley has immense potential, particularly in agriculture. Through the Kaptagat Integrated Programme, we are working to unlock this potential by promoting agricultural diversification so that every household has a reliable source of income. The Government is also finalising the upgrading of roads connecting Tot, Biretwo, Emsea and Nyaru to bitumen standards to make the valley more accessible, ease the transportation of agricultural produce to markets and open up more economic opportunities for our people.

WWF-Kenya is a key partner in advancing environmental conservation, protecting biodiversity, restoring degraded landscapes and helping communities build resilience to climate change. Having previously served as Principal Secretary for Environment and Forestry and now at the National Treasury, I can attest to WWF-Kenya’s dependable partnership with the Government and local communities, including through the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme of which I am Patron. This evening, I joined @rebecca_miano, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, as she officiated at celebrations marking WWF-Kenya’s 10th anniversary as a National Office, building on more than six decades of conservation work in Kenya. Congratulations to WWF-Kenya on this milestone. @WWF @WWF_Kenya

Honoured to join H.E. the President, Dr. William Ruto, as he led the nation in marking this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret City. Uasin Gishu, Nandi, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties co-hosted the celebrations under the themes of Security, Sports, and the Economy. In recognition of hardworking Kenyans' contributions, the Government has proposed exempting individuals earning KSh 32,333 per month or less from Pay As You Earn (PAYE) income tax. It has also proposed exempting land transactions valued at KSh 1 million or less from stamp duty. The National Treasury has developed these proposals and will table them in Parliament for consideration. The proposed measures aim to increase disposable income for hardworking Kenyans, ease the cost of living, and make land ownership more affordable for ordinary families.

Elders hold a special place in our society. They are custodians of our values, guardians of peace, and steady voices of wisdom in matters of governance. Alongside more than 5,000 elders from the North and South Rift, I attended a consultative meeting hosted by H.E. the President Dr. William Ruto at Eldoret State Lodge. Together, we reviewed progress across the region and identified areas that still need attention. The elders endorsed President Ruto’s call for “Usawa ni Sawa”, a call for development that leaves no part of our country behind.

At Eldoret State Lodge this morning, I joined H.E. the President @WilliamsRuto as he assented to two Senate Bills that will further strengthen devolution, improve how county assemblies are run and ensure resources are shared fairly. The County Governments Additional Allocations Bill (Senate Bill No. 8 of 2026) delivers KSh 71.09 billion in additional funding to counties for the 2026/2027 financial year. The funds secures better terms of service for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) workers, supports Community Health Promoters (CHPs) across the country and helps counties build their headquarters. The President also assented to the County Assembly Services Amendment Bill, 2023 (Senate Bill No. 34 of 2023). It sets clear procedures for removing County Assembly Service Board members and clerks, and defines the separate roles of boards and management. Clerks of county assemblies now have security of tenure. The National Treasury will keep working with the National Assembly, the Senate, and county government to make devolution deliver, with stronger institutions, transparent funding and better services for our people.
