Meet the first official beneficiary of our Second Chance Fund!
This spirited one-year-old Jack Russell took a daring leap from a height, resulting in a complex elbow fracture. Without enough funds, he was facing amputation.
Thankfully, he was referred to us, and we couldn’t let him lose his leg. We stepped in to give him a second chance! We stabilized the fracture using a screw and intramedullary pin.
He’s still very sore, but we’re keeping his pain under control. Now, he’s on six weeks of cage rest, and we’re all rooting for a full recovery.
Thank you for supporting our mission to give animals like him a fighting chance!

For years, I’ve dreamed of a way to help pets in desperate need of lifesaving surgical care.
As a specialist small animal surgeon, I see dogs and cats every day whose lives could be transformed with critical surgeries - if only their loving owners could afford them.
Surgery, when done with precision and care, is unfortunately very expensive, and it breaks my heart to see families face losing their beloved pets due to financial hardship.
That’s why I’m launching the Second Chance Surgery for Pets FundMe project, a passion project I’ve long envisioned. This fund will assist owners who can’t cover the full cost of surgery and fully support those in need who can’t afford any of the bill. Every cent will go toward life-saving procedures, with full transparency through updates on my X account (@v_hermien) and an annual report.
