You can acknowledge an artistโs impact without personally connecting with their music. Your taste is subjective, but the impact an artist has had on music and culture can exist independently of how you feel about their work. Two truths can coexist.

mixcloud is still the best home for full sets with proper tracklists imo. 2014 dublab sessions hit different, love that you are digging out the archive

this whole distrokid fiasco should show people how brittle and fickle streaming services are.
like most things in modernity, they are stripping away the humanity of music discovery. automation and algorithms are replacing word of mouth and genuine music conversation. it's sad

Underground hiphop has introduced me to people I wouldโve never met otherwise.
Different countries, different lives, same love for a dusty sample and some honest bars ๐

People say that they are disappointed that they dont own a house at this age but I definitely thought I'd have an NTS show by now.
(a house would be cool too, I'm sure).

Talking Heads - โOnce In A Lifetimeโ
Brian Eno borrows Fela Kuti's and Tony Allen's rhythmic genius for Talking Headsโ most enigmatic Song.
When I first heard the Talking Heads classic โOnce In A Lifetimeโ (1981), I immediately knew that it would have a profound effect on me musically (and culturally). Although at that time Iโd only had some minimal familiarity with African multiple rhythmic styles, I hadnโt yet gotten into Fela Kuti, the towering Nigerian figure and creator of Afrobeat. So hearing โOnce In A Lifetimeโ was like being smacked with five walls of rhythm, all at once.
Also, โOnce In A Lifetimeโ is one of those examples of when musical borders collide beautifully.
