Our guest speaker at the IBAU CEO Breakfast Meeting, Trevor Ariho, CEO @LEAD_EA, delivered a compelling presentation on Corporate Governance: Emerging Local and International Trends, challenging insurance leaders to adopt a more future-focused approach to governance. He emphasized that boards must move beyond reviewing past performance to actively anticipating emerging risks such as cyber threats, artificial intelligence, climate change, and reputational risks, while also identifying opportunities for innovation and growth. Ariho further highlighted the importance of competence-based board appointments, strong board evaluations, and governance structures that are responsive to a rapidly evolving business environment. He concluded by noting that the future will favor organizations whose boards are better at anticipating risk, with trust becoming the most valuable asset in corporate success. #IBAU #CEOBreakfastMeeting #CorporateGovernance #Leadership

The conversations continued with a second fireside chat under Subtopic 2: “The Connected Carrier: Data Collaboration and Synergies.” Moderated by Mr. @EBarusha , CEO, @KenbrightUG , the session brought together diverse perspectives from Mr. Geoffrey Sajjabi (@nssfug ), Ms. Linda Rwatangabo (Cornerstone Asset Manager), and Mr. David Muwanguzi (@PrudentialUG ). Mr. Geoffrey Sajjabi, Chief Commercial Officer, NSSF Uganda, noted: “We cannot achieve scale alone—collaboration and data are critical to reaching underserved markets.” A strong call for the industry to move beyond traditional boundaries and leverage partnerships to expand access, particularly within the informal economy. Ms. Linda Rwatangabo, Investments Operations Manager, Cornerstone Asset Manager, emphasized: “Data is only valuable when it is accurate, well-governed, and used responsibly.” Underscoring the importance of robust data practices in enabling informed decision-making, effective risk management, and sustained trust across the ecosystem. Mr. David Muwanguzi, Head of Group Life, Prudential Assurance Uganda, added: “Collaboration allows us to create better products, improve customer experience, and respond faster to market needs.” A reminder that innovation thrives where partnerships exist—driving agility and customer-centricity in a rapidly evolving landscape. The conversation reinforced a powerful takeaway: The future of insurance lies in connected systems, responsible data use, and partnerships that deliver meaningful, sustainable value. #IBAUCONFERENCE2026

In closing, Mr. Kisakye reaffirmed UIA’s commitment to continued collaboration with government agencies and industry players to build a more efficient, transparent and inclusive medical insurance landscape. Dear Insurance Professionals, The phrase “In case you die” doesn’t just feel overused—it misses the mark entirely. Today’s clients—especially ambitious young professionals—aren’t just planning for the worst. They’re building legacies, protecting their families, and securing the future they’re working so hard to create. So why frame the conversation around loss when we can focus on strength, certainty, and control ? - “What if something happens?” becomes, “No matter what happens, your dreams are secure.” - “In case you die” becomes, “So the life you build lives on.” Insurance isn’t about fear—it’s about freedom. Freedom to chase ambitions without worry. Freedom to leave a legacy, not just luck. Let’s shift the narrative. Because the right words don’t just sell policies—they inspire action. Your clients aren’t preparing for the end. They’re ensuring their story continues. I thank You.
