PRESS STATEMENT GOVERNMENT CONDEMNS VIOLENCE. SHURUGWI Gweru, 3 November 2026 The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development of the Government of Zimbabwe reports of violent clashes between artisanal miners and mine security personnel at Wanderer Mine Site Number 4, operated by Chengxi Mine in Shurugwi, Midlands Province. The incident reportedly resulted in injuries, the hospitalisation of two security personnel and the burning of five excavators. The Ministry strongly condemns violence, destruction of property and all forms of unlawful conduct in the mining sector. Mining disputes must be resolved through established legal and administrative channels. The Ministry has already dispatched a team to investigate the incident, verifying the mining rights in the disputed area and assess compliance with mining, safety and environmental regulations. The Ministry will work with the law enforcement agencies, the mine operator, the artisanal miners and the local leadership. This way it will establish the facts and ensure that appropriate action is taken against any parties found to have violated the law. The Ministry reiterates that both mining companies and artisanal miners must operate within the law. Government remains committed to promoting responsible mining. The formalisation of artisanal miners, protection of lawful mining rights and peaceful coexistence between mining companies and surrounding communities is paramount. Once again, I want to assure all stakeholders that the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has dispatched inspectors with the Zimbabwe Republic Police to site to carry out a full investigation and updates will be provided

PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA PRESIDES OVER WINGS PRESENTATION AND COMMISSIONING PARADE FOR No. 70 PILOT TRAINING COURSE H.E. President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces @edmnangagwa presides over the Wings Presentation and Commissioning Parade for the Number 70 Pilot Training Coursr at the Josiah Tungamirai Air Force Base, in Gweru. A total of ten officer cadets โ€“ comprising nine males and one female โ€“ were commissioned and conferred with flying wings after successfully completing a gruelling five-year training programme. The course, which commenced on 8 November 2021 with twelve cadets, is the second cohort to complete the upgraded Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Aviation Sciences, Aircraft Systems and Operations. The degree programme is administered by the Zimbabwe National Defence University (ZNDU) in partnership with the School of Flying Training. The programme was introduced to align military aviation training with emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, modern avionics and next-generation aircraft systems. Training was conducted in three phases covering ground school, academic studies and basic flying training with Number 6 Squadron, where student pilots accumulated 120 flying hours. In his address, the President paid a solemn tribute to an instructor pilot and a student pilot who lost their lives in an air crash during the course. President Mnangagwa extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and called on the nation to honour their sacrifice in service to the Republic. The President commended the Air Force of Zimbabwe for embracing technology transfer and for establishing an overhaul and maintenance facility at the base. He noted that human capital development remains a key pillar under National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and Vision 2030, and that a modern, well-trained Air Force is critical to safeguarding national sovereignty. President Mnangagwa announced that Zimbabwe will host Exercise Blue Runde in 2027โ€™ and will participate at the Africa Aerospace and Defence Exhibition in South Africa. The President urged the newly commissioned pilots to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, patriotism, loyalty and discipline, and to shun drug and substance abuse. โ€œThe wings you now wear represent the fortress of the nation. Wear them with honour, humility and unflinching loyalty to Zimbabwe,โ€ President Mnangagwa said. The Parade was attended by the Minister of Defence, senior Government officials, Service Chiefs, families of the graduands and members of the local community. Today, I had the distinct honour of presiding over the Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) Number 70 Pilot Training Course Wings Presentation and Commissioning Parade at the Josiah Tungamirai Air Force Base in Gweru, Midlands Province. This is a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for our newly commissioned pilots, as well as the parents and families who supported them throughout this grueling journey. While we celebrate this milestone, our hearts remain heavy as we remember the tragic loss of an Officer Cadet and an Instructor Pilot who lost their lives during training. We extend our deepest, heartfelt condolences to their families and comrades. Their ultimate sacrifice in service to our motherland will never be forgotten. In keeping with ongoing global trends, our pilot study program has been systematically upgraded to incorporate modern training methods of flying. As you step into your new roles, I urge you to fully adapt to the core values of the Air Force of Zimbabweโ€”patriotism, discipline, and unyielding loyalty. Human capital development remains a critical pillar for the attainment of Vision 2030, and investing in our defense personnel is central to this national objective. Over the years, the AFZ has demonstrated exceptional professionalism both within and outside our borders through robust Air Diplomacy. These achievements do not stand in isolation; the AFZ continues to stand strong alongside the Standing Aviation Community of SADC. Looking ahead, the nation expects the highest standards of professionalism, high values, and the fierce advancement of our national interest as our forces prepare for Exercise Runde and the upcoming Africa Aerospace and Defence expo in South Africa. The military tradition is built entirely on teamwork. I extend my profound gratitude to the Ministry of Defence, the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, the Air Force Command, and the entire training team for their unwavering support and dedication to duty. Congratulations to the newly commissioned officers!

We have come a long way, and sadly can easily forget the, industrial strikes, university workers strikes, fuel queues, empty shelves in supermarkets, bad roads, over 18hrs load-shedding. Most of the things i have mentioned are now a thing of the past, and i also acknowledge few outstanding issues, our nation is not perfect but i believe the able leaders you appointed into Government, your vice presidents, cabinet ministers, commissioners and all Government employees making efforts and doing their best to deliver their mandates. Surely Zimbabwe will continue to prosper. Notably, you have turned this nation into a construction zone, so many areas being developed, the land is peaceful and made the environment conducive for business. Rome was not built in one day, our great nation is surely progressing. Thank you ๐Ÿ™ Shumba, Munhumutapa, we appreciate you and acknowledge the serious progress. Born and raised in ZanuPF, despite coming a less privileged family, i have never stopped believing in our party. We have seen it all and i believe we are now on the rise because of your strong leadership. As a member and strong supporter of our party @ZANUPF_Official , who is a private citizen, I am unashamed to praise and acknowledge your efforts, my leader, be reminded always, there are youths and young people who unapologetically believe in leadership and acknowledge your sacrifices and applaud your efforts together with those behind you making efforts to see this peaceful nation prosper.

The seminar provides a strategic platform for Zimbabwean producers and exporters to showcase locally manufactured products, engage directly with international buyers and establish business partnerships that can translate into concrete export opportunities. By connecting local businesses with international markets, the initiative opens doors to new customers, increases demand for Zimbabwean products, encourages producers to improve quality and competitiveness, and enables exporters to diversify their markets. Beyond individual business gains, increased exports have the potential to generate foreign currency, create employment, stimulate industrial production, support local value chains and contribute to national economic growth. The engagement also advances Zimbabwe's economic diplomacy agenda, strengthening the link between diplomatic relations and tangible economic opportunities. From connecting businesses to opening markets, Zimbabwe is positioning its producers to compete, export and grow on the global stage.
