This Sunday, 7 September 2025 at 3pm the Government is running the second nationwide test of the UK’s Emergency Alerts system. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action. These tests are important to ensure everyone in the UK is familiar with the system so that when it is needed, it can effectively protect people and properties during life-threatening events. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency. Please be aware that this alert can reveal the location of a concealed phone. If you know anyone with a hidden device, such as someone experiencing domestic abuse, we encourage you to inform them of the test so they can take action to protect their safety. Latest update: Following a further fix overnight to a technical fault impacting voice calls on our network, we’ve been monitoring the situation throughout the day and services have been running as normal. We continue to conduct enhanced monitoring to prevent recurrence. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this issue has caused.
