The CWA is proud to announce the longlist for the 2025 Margery Allingham Short Mystery Competition! Congratulations, authors, and best of luck in the next round!
Recently I found out I’d won 🥈 in a short story competition; I couldn’t make it to the award ceremony but maybe that was a good thing as now I have a recording of one of my literary heroes, Simon Brett, reading my story at the ceremony! #SimonBrett #shortstory #detectionclub

Normally, when we say ‘it was a different time’ we mean ‘it was a horribly racist and sexist time’. But today, as a pleasant change, I am going to use it to mean ‘it was a time when they covered up their telephones with big black velvet cats.’
Woohoo, made the longlist! 🥳
