I welcome #Somalia’s National Action Plan on Youth, Peace & Security 2026–2030 @MoysFGS. For #FAO, creating opportunities for young people across agriculture, livestock and fisheries is key to stronger livelihoods, food security, resilient communities and lasting peace.
A historic milestone for Somalia’s young people! Today, the Federal Government of Somalia officially launched the National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security (2026–2030), marking a significant step towards placing young women and men at the centre of peacebuilding, decision-making and national development. Speaking on behalf of the United Nations in Somalia, @UNFPA_SOMALIA Representative Mr. @jelidje emphasized that lasting peace must deliver tangible opportunities for young people — through education, decent livelihoods, justice and meaningful participation in decisions shaping their future. The launch represents more than a policy commitment. It is a call to translate young people’s aspirations into concrete investments, stronger institutions and youth-led action for sustainable peace. @UNFPA, alongside UN partners, remains committed to supporting the Government of #Somalia in translating this landmark Action Plan into meaningful results for young people across the country. The message is clear: Young people are not merely beneficiaries of peace. They are leaders, innovators and essential partners in building it. From commitments to action. From youth participation to youth leadership. From peacebuilding to lasting peace dividends.
