NEW FOIA FILES is out! Ok so this is interesting? Last month, I obtained a memo signed by AG Todd Blanche that was sent to all federal agencies that advised officials how they should implement Trump's EO designating English as the "official" language of the US. The memo said some agencies, such as the Departments of Homeland Security, Treasury and Education scrubbed their websites of non-English language materials.
Well... last week, Blanche revised his memo and sent a new version to agencies. I obtained a copy. English is now not only the "official" language of the US, Blanche wrote, it is now the "sole official language."
One thing that Blanche added that wasn't in the previous version of his memo: the DOJ will seek public comments on the English Language guidance.
Blanche noted, however, that the DOJ will not respond to public comments.”
You gotta read this week's FOIA Files for the full story. There's a lot more. As always, it's free! And please subscribe to get your weekly dose of never before seen documents at @business !

Lots of fancy reporter types dunking on this quote and story but the cub reporter bought a local paper and is trying to make it work. We should applaud the effort and not punch down. I’d take a cub reporter who can learn over a private equity bottom line cutting machine.

BREAKING: DHS contractors are toppling the last of four ancient cottonwoods to build double border walls across the San Rafael Valley.
The wall cuts through the key remaining wildlife corridor for endangered jaguars between Arizona and Sonora, where human border crossings are seldom seen.
A protest camp had occupied and protected this tree for more than 60 days, halting construction. The camp was raided and campers were arrested this morning.
This wall will effectively lock the remaining jaguars in the U.S. into solitary confinement, while permanently marring one of the last remaining wild places along the Arizona border.

Last year we obtained internal government records that showed more than 600 children around the US had been placed in federal shelters for unaccompanied children, many of them had been separated from their parents or guardians. This is still happening.

My latest alongside @kylieatwood — preliminary discussions are underway on reciprocal US-China nuclear site visits. China initially raised the idea on the sidelines of P5 meetings.
The Trump administration has discussed beginning reciprocal nuclear site visits with China and plans to continue pushing for that possibility during in-person meetings in the coming months, according to sources familiar with the matter. cnn.it/4j12NYZ
