Predictability and fair ordering at 50 ms latency are the practical path forward for onchain finance. The solutions exist today on Ethereum.
Fully Agreed - the solutions are already available today and the industry should indeed converge on the Predictability and fair Ordering principles that @ETHGasOfficial espouses.
- Predicability: Economically backed guarantees that you get included in a specific block (or sub-slot)
- Ordering: First-come, first-served with 50ms latency. At this threshold, it's fast enough it feels instant and slow enough that institutional players don't have a significant advantage over everyday retail.
Financial applications are indeed the primary and most obvious use for blockchains. Let's make this happen.
As for Strong Chain Quality - it's a fair point, logistically complex, and Validators would outsource their decision-making.
What's the day 1, or almost-immediate incentive for Validators to support this?
With broad industry support (i.e. clear economic incentive), we could do this almost immediately out of protocol. We just swap future queue positions for an immediate shared right validate the block. It's just a blockspace swap 🔥🔥
