i stopped comparing BGC to baddies once zeus started casting 20 girls per season. you have to accept that they're two different shows, and natalie is pushing the show's legacy to appease her narcissism.
zeus thinks they're breaking barriers, but you can't digest 20 clashing personalities on the same show. BGC chose 7 girls for a reason. it was a controlled environment with 25% fights, 25% humor, and 50% personality. that's exactly why BGC7 was chosen for the upcoming reunion special. each girl played a role whether you liked them or not.
judi, stasi, and tiara's chemistry, humor, and energy dominated. shelly was a villain, but her LGBTQ+ backstory allowed you to see her as more than a bully. tasha and priscilla were bigoted and insufferable, but they helped provide social commentary and organic drama surrounding it. angie was a wild card and her adaptability to both sides was interesting to witness.
you can't get BGC casting out of baddies because zeus doesn't have producers or casting directors that innovate. it's plagued with hopefuls who grew up with BGC, only got the fighting aspect out of it, or missed the window of opportunity to audition before it got cancelled. that's why bad boys is happening, to cater to queer men who were inspired by the show, but oxygen didn't follow through on that idea for a reason.
every baddies episode is a wash-rinse-repeat — you get a staged, inauthentic recap, a house meeting gone wrong with 20 brawls, and a club performance. BGC had authentic conversations about life, harmless fun moments, pranks, trips, girls working jobs, doing charitable shit. it was meant to build character.
granted, BGC's producers weren't saints. they absolutely let certain girls get away with the most fucked up incidents à la jela & the clermont twins' lawsuit +BGC8 and BGC11's jumping sprees, but they knew when to intervene and hold people accountable.
there's no structure with baddies, and fans are okay with that (sadly).
